Guest guest
HI Adam, Yes, I have elevated liver enzymes. We thought for a long time that I had liver disease. but turns out is is coming from my muscle. I have since found out that it is not uncommon at all to eleveated LFT's Sgot and Sgpt I think and maybe one other one when you have a myopathy. I rarely get elevelated Cpk's which is where almost everyone with a muscle disease shows up, but they said I leak muscle protien from my liver when I overdo things. It is scary though. Might as well check it out completely. You have muscle invlovelment right? Then the throwing up which is tough on the muscles could of been why they became elevated, I know a flu will do that to mine. Smiles to you, How is the liver affected by mito? Guest guest
Adam, alot of meds (esp anything with acetomenophine-sp?) can cause elevated LFT I believe. The liver helps to detox the body. was born with a very enlarged liver and so when we did biopsy her at age 1 1/2 we did that too. It was green and slimy. Basically falling apart. It showed poor mito function. She has cirrhosis and fibrosis. She is transfused every three weeks with red cells so hers can be due to iron build up-which she is on an iron chelation for. Anyways- her LFTs even with all of this-are always normal. I mean maybe 10-20 elevation but that is it. Crazy huh? I hope you get some answers. I probably just added more questions then answers, sorry. Dawn
Guest guest
Hi Duane has had elevated liver numbers on and off these 8 years, the Dr Seems to not be to concerned about it when I ask, he says that it is not some thing that we need to worry abut, there are so many other fires I feel we need to put out that I actually forgot about the liver function. At this point all I want is for him to be comfortable and happy Last night he was watching the news and FREAKED out about Mount St Helens rumbling they are seeing some seismic activity and it might spew some ash you would have thought it was the end of the world for him. So now cant watch the news. Hugs Jan How is the liver affected by mito? Anyone have liver problems? > Hi, > > I have my appt with the GI doc tomorrow. Guest guest
Adam The liver can be affected, just like any other body system. Many things can cause a liver function elevation. It is expected with certain medications. This is one reason it is not a good idea for us to go strickly by normal ranges. We need the medical professions input to see what other factors are involved. laurie > > Reply-To: > Date: Tue, 28 Sep 2004 20:05:13 -0000 > To: > Subject: How is the liver affected by mito? Guest guest
The funny thing is, my liver panels are great, but I have high blood ammonia, which is almost directly associated with liver disease. I am going to my GI tomorrow to follow up on the high blood ammonia. Take care, RH > Hi, > > I have my appt with the GI doc tomorrow.
