The other thing they were strict

about with us was eating cereal without milk or yogurt. Same reason " abuse

potential. " Core cereals are still to be eaten with fat free milk or fat

free yogurt

(discouraging " mindless eating throughout the day).

Isn't it funny how different people can interpret the same sentence. I took

those instructions to mean use fat free as opposed to any other kind of milk

or yogurt. I didn't think it meant you coundn't eat your serving of cereal

dry.

Charlie

my last word on yogurt I promise.

I am sorry I said any thing also. Core is new to all of us. Those of us who

started earlier were on a stricter program. We had to eat it as it was

written.

I wrote recently and received an answer that said in part

Each food on the Core list was carefully chosen. Each food was evaluated for

its abuse potential and

Its energy density.

Abuse potential of a food is its likelihood for triggering overeating.

Flavored yogurt is more likely to trigger overeating than plain fat free

yogurt. But

plain yogurt flavored with a sweetener and fruit would remain a core food.

So

it is OK to eat it. Just don't over eat it. It has calories. The problem

isn't that you will go and eat a snickers bar but that you might eat too

much of

that now wonderful tasting flavored yogurt. If it doesn't cause you any

problems in over eating mix away. The new cookbook and new recipes like the

ones

posted make lots of the foods easier to eat. The other thing they were

strict

about with us was eating cereal without milk or yogurt. Same reason " abuse

potential. " Core cereals are still to be eaten with fat free mild or fat

free yogurt

(discouraging " mindless eating throughout the day). The original pilot

program for core foods found that without portions controls many were not

losing

weight as it was difficult for many not to over eat. The core plan has

changed a

lot. It is working better for almost every one. Good luck with it. It works

for me. Sherry

No problem Sherry! I think you're always going to have debate on the new

program, but that doesn't mean anyone is upset with the messenger. We're all

just trying to sort it out in our heads.

By the way, I love your Dewey quote!

Oh really? That's really interesting. I eat dry cereal all the time because

I'm lactose intolerant. I suppose, though, you just have to make

modifications for your diet. I do always measure my servings, however. Or I

suppose I could use Lactaid.

I'm actually going to look over the core stuff this week and think about it.

I hate to mess with succes, though. Flex is working for me so far. (Except

that darn three pounds I put on overnight...but I think tht's the

prednisone.)
