Guest guest
Lyn, Is it possible for you to afford the four meetings, so you can get all the Core info? That should be about $40 -- which is significantly less than the $100 for the at-home. Just a thought. I really think the new Core will work better for some people -- I have a good friend who has struggled with the record-keeping requirements of the Flex plan, and for her personality type this new one should work great. It might be just what you've been hoping for, too! Best wishes to you in your decision! Bette
Guest guest
Bette, our individual meetings are $12.95 per week....but because we have some conflicts where I couldn't go 4 weeks in a row, I just threw in the towel and ordered the at-home kit. lol Now I'll be chomping at the bit until it arrives. I'm so impatient. I think that at times I just get SO SICK of counting points that this will be great for me. But what's great is that I've heard I can do a week of core, then do Flex (winning points in my case because I like that better) So that way I could make my old recipes on a WP week and then do some new ones on the Core week. Or eat out on a WP week. IF, that is, we have to count the entire recipe even though it has core foods. I think THAT will be a wonderful boost when I'm feeling " sick of it. " That at home kit comes with the new recipe book. I'm excited to get that. It also comes with the pedometer. And the laminated daily tracker looks cool too. I'm very anal about recording. I have ALL my WW diaries and I think I need to lighten up my compulsion and try the laminated thing. Maybe it will feel more " lifestyle " that way. I don't struggle with the record keeping, I obsess. Which, IMHO, is just as bad as struggling to journal. I told my husband the other night that the thought of counting points the rest of my life is overwhelming to me. I will always have a food addiction. But if I can figure out little tricks to do this MENTALLY, I'll make it. Guest guest
Thank you, Chris! Makes sense. I think I'm going to start this tomorrow, after I make a shopping list and hit the store today. I don't like " winging it " without the program materials in my hand and studied, but I guess I'm enough of a WW pro that I'll be okay........UNTIL my kit arrives! Lyn RE: to core or not core, that is the question >I've heard rumors that the new core makes you >count everything in a recipe if all ingredients >are not core. I've also heard recipes that >you pick the recipe apart and don't count the core items. Not to worry, Lyn! I picked up the new booklets at my WW center this morning, and it says in black and white that for foods containing non-Core items, you only count the points for the non-Core part. The example they gave was a plain baked potato. Order the toppings on the side, then only count points for the amount of butter/sour cream/whatever that you eat. It also suggests that if you find yourself dissecting a food (say, lasagna) to figure out the non-Core components, that maybe you should just count the points for the whole dish instead. Sounds safer than trying to fudge it to me! Chris [

Guest guest
Hi, Lyn. I just got my At Home kit today. I ordered it because the new leader at my meeting wasn't very good. At all. I think the kit was worth the $100! It includes the At Home Guide Book, all the 12 weeks of program materials, food companion, dining out guide, carrying case, 12 Week spiral bound diary, really nice cookbook with recipies that are all Core friendly, an erasable little tracker w/marker (it's about the size of a checkbook with a checkbook like cover), pedometer and guide, and the September issue of WW magazine. All you really need is the Core Food List and details. Activity points are the same with Core as they are with Flex - you can trade activity points for food points on the day you earn them. They encourage you to earn 4/day. As someone posted, you only need to count the non-Core foods in a recipe, unless the bulk of the food is non-Core. Guest guest
I have a question about this " Core Plan " . You can basically eat what you want form the core list and not have to count it. Only if you eat something not on core you caount, but cannot exceed 35 points per week? So you can eat unlimited banana's and never have to worry about the points they actaully contain? Can someone please clarify. -- ~~~~ http://home.comcast.net/~sihughes/ -------------- Original message -------------- >I've heard rumors that the new core makes you >count everything in a recipe if all ingredients >are not core.
