Guest guest
- My son started in his first band June 24 and he is getting it off next week. He was 6 months at the start of treatment but he was born 7 weeks early so technically 4.5 months. The one thing I wanted to point out is while going from 96% to 93% seems like only a little. It was actually went down 2 standard deviations. The Cephalic index is different from birth to 6 months then it is from 6 months to a year. So thats why it was 2 standard deviations. It went from +4 to +2 standard deviations. I actually feel much better right now. I talked to our Orthotist tonight. She is wonderful. We are going in for our casting tommorow. She said that he still should have significant correction since he is only 8 months 6.5 months adjusted. She also said he will be in this helmet longer which is fine with me. She said she thinks we should be able to get the brachy into a normal range. So even if its one standard deviation off I am hoping it will look normal. I am sure there are people that are born with large heads with CIs above normal. Cranial Sacral is a new therapy where they put gentle pressure on the childs head no more than the weight of a nickel to realign the headshape. its based on the belief that soft tissue determines bone placement. So you move the soft tissue you move the bones. Its worth a try. I will keep you updated on my progress with both. > > > > > > My son is currently at the end of his first doc band treatment > with > > 5mm > > > assymetry and 93% brachy.
