Guest guest
From what I have read on the core plan it says *yogurt, fat free or 1%, plain or artificially sweetened flavored So you don't have to have plain as long as it doesn't have any added sugar The reason plain yogurt has so much sugar is because the sugar count is counting the lactose. Plain yogurt is more healthful because adding sugar to dairy products of any kind can inhibit the absorbtion of some of the vitamins and nutrients, and added sugar in yogurt destroys a lot of the live active cultures which defeats the purpose of eating yogurt. So maybe plain yougurt mixed with fruit, and topped with wheat germ or grape nuts cereal or something. Hope this helps. > That is a really good question. Guest guest
Where did you find this info? When I go to eTools and use the points calculator, typing in " yogurt, " the ONLY checked (Core) yogurt is plain or plain soy. Guest guest
Thanks , that does help. I really dislike yogurt, but I am developing a taste for it slowly. I just don't know if I can do plain yogurt. But if I add fruit to it, or something crunchy, I might be able to tolerate it. in CO -- question about yogurt > > > I was shopping for yogurt the other day and I have a question about why we > have to eat plain yogurt on the Core Plan. > > From what I can see, nutritionally, there is little difference between the > fat-free plain yogurt and the fat-free flavored yogurt. > > The only major difference was that plain yogurt has double the protein. > > But surprisingly, the plain yogurt had more overall carbs and more grams > of > sugar than the flavored yogurt! > > It also had more sodium. > > So - why plain yogurt on the Core program? Guest guest
How are you doing that? I tried and could not stand it. Is there one that tastes better than others? e Re: question about yogurt Thanks , that does help. I really dislike yogurt, but I am developing a taste for it slowly. Guest guest
I add a packet of Splenda, fruit, and fiber one for a 2.5 point, very FILLING breakfast. > question about yogurt > > > > > > I was shopping for yogurt the other day and I have a question > about why we > > have to eat plain yogurt on the Core Plan. > > > > From what I can see, nutritionally, there is little difference > between the > > fat-free plain yogurt and the fat-free flavored yogurt. > > > > The only major difference was that plain yogurt has double the > protein. > > > > But surprisingly, the plain yogurt had more overall carbs and > more grams > > of > > sugar than the flavored yogurt! > > > > It also had more sodium. > > > > So - why plain yogurt on the Core program? Guest guest
Hi e, Well, that's why I asked the question...I finally got to where I could tolerate the Yoplait yogurt (not fruit on the bottom stuff - I can't eat that!) So that's why I was bummed out about having to eat plain yogurt. But the idea about adding splenda and fruit, well, I'll give that a try. It sounds do-able. But if you don't like yogurt because of the consistency (not a flavor issue) then you'll probably never like yogurt and will just have to get your calcium elsewhere! :-) -- Re: Re: question about yogurt How are you doing that?
