Hi all

I just wanted to say " hi " . My son was diagnosed with Brachycephaly

(108%) at 5 months, and underwent helmet treatment from 5.5 months

until 10.5 months. He reduced to 92% and now looks " normal " . Our

treatment was uneventful, easy & straightforward, thankfully :-)

The whole experience really opened my eyes to the lack of education

there is for this condition, and whilst not life-threatening, it

could easily have been prevented for lots of babies in the first

place.

I'm so pleased we underwent treatment - we caught Josh in time, and

whilst I would never judge anyone's decision not to band their

child, I just wanted to offer my story as hope to those thinking of

treatment for babies with severe cases of brachy/plagio. You will

still see results, and even though we graduated at a figure that

others often start out at, Josh still looks totally transformed now.

I am currently running a petition to ask the NHS to provide details

of plagio and how to prevent it, as part of routine antenatal care,

for anyone that's interested in supporting it.

Good luck to everyone on their journeys.

Hello and Welcome to the group !! Glad to hear the great news!! and your right none of it is easy and alot gets these disorders after birth. My DD was one of the few that gets it inutro I am not a thin person at all but I am short and she must have been a bit to long for my womb in ways LOL she was cramped in one position from 28 wks till I had her at 39.6 wks her head was laying to the left right above my cervix and her back was at my left hip and her butt was at my rib cage and her feet was at my right hip. I was induced with her cause of the fact I was not changing much in dilation and her heart rate was starting to drop some . so I had her a day before her actual due date. I was also told that my pelvis is a bit small for her head so it took awhile for her to come even with pitocin set pretty high. The combo of those 2 things and then her wanting to sleep on the left side after birth was what caused her to have positional plagiocephaly I did aggressive repositioning

from the time I had the diagnose's and she was seen by a ped neurosurgen and he told me that repo would be the best since her positional plagiocephaly wasn't extreamly bad yet. I didn't see change till she started favoring the right side of her head on her own with out me placing her there( which was 5 months old ) . I stepped up the aggressive repo a notch and within 2 weeks of the heavy duty aggressive repo I finally saw a more "normal" head shape(at 6 1/2 months then ).She is now 7 months and her head is still rounding and filling like crazy which I am excited that my hard work is now finally pulling off!! its awesome to see that your child is getting a better chance in life !! Due to her head size and length ( she is 31 inches long now LOL ) she isn't sitting up unsupported or crawling yet . She will be getting home visits from a PT June 21st and I also can't wait for that !! lindsay3930 <linzy_p@...> wrote: Hi allI just wanted to say "hi".
