Guest guest
Hi all, I have a son who's now 14.5 months with right tort that seems to be getting worse. He also has left plagiocephaly which doctors have categorized as mild and not needing treatment. We've seen a pediatric orthopedist and the last one a pediatric neurosurgeon who said the same things. Also, my son being 14.5 months is considered too old and may not have as desirable positive results as if he were much younger. I don't know if i'm just being too vain about my son's head, but I feel that I should get at least try to get him banded, try to get his head more rounded than not do anything and have him complain to me when he's 16 years old wondering why his head is not perfectly round. Anyhow, we did see Dr Krieger at Children's hospital LA yesterday who assessed the situation and talked abt the plagio which he considers mild but he did write a prescription for us should I decide that I want to continue with it. My concern about it is that he wrote an RX and recommend that we go to Lerman & sons in Beverly Hills. After reading a few posts here abt Lerman, I'm concerned. My son doesn't have much time left I guess, so I just want to go a place who'll do it right once and for all. Anybody here who's had their child fitted at Lerman and had positive results? Also, I know there are a few here whose kids had helmets at a much older age so I also want to know how your experience was, most specially getting your active child to cooperate. Thank you in advance. Donna
Guest guest
Hi Donna, I completely understand wanting to do what you can for you son. I would suggest visiting cranial technology, although unfortunately they are having problems with the LA office, since the ortho there just passed away (it was a licensed provider and not an office they directly managed). They have an office in San Diego, and if you can travel it would be worth considering. They have the best overall reputation. Other bands (such as starband and hanger) can also be excellent but it depends on the ortho fitting the band, since their level of experience varies. Our starband ortho was excellent, but we are in san francisco area, so that wouldn't really be an option for you. If you get strong recommendations for another provider locally, I would consider it. But I would also check out CT in San Diego and see if that would work for you. (www.cranialtech.com) take care. -christine sydney 19 mo starband grad > > Hi all, > > I have a son who's now 14.5 months with right tort that seems to be > getting worse.
