Guest guest
My son, who is currently 7, has been having some positive experiences at school with sensory integration. The school gave him his own " tool box " and he even asks for it when he feels that he can't control himself. I want to learn about how I can help my son at home using sensory integration. I have a few books on hold at the library, but they currently are check out by others. What I am looking for is a local store that sells items used for sensory integration or a good web site that someone has used. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Unfortunately, my insurance doesn't pay for sensory integration,OT or PT, if he is getting it at school. And it is a bit costly to pay it out of pocket. I am willing to teach myself anything to better my son, but would like some help from others if possiable, to make this an easier and quicker learning experience! Thank you in advance, Pamela

Guest guest
I'm sure the OT from school would be willing to give you " homework " . How did you get the school to provide OT, I'm working on that one? What are your sons issues? YOu can email me privately at ijah@.... Guest guest
I'm not Angie, but the last time I looked into Easter Seals, the cost was about $15 per session, which is similar to a health insurance co-pay. The reason we chose not to use them was because there isn't a location convenient for my family. Penny > > Easter Seals offers SI thearpy. Guest guest
Its was a fight, 1.5 years of fighting for OT and over 2.5 for PT. He now gets both, thank god!! His sensory issues, well, all of his sences are as what I have been told by my docotr " all are on high alert " . He has minor issues with almost all. From covering his ears and eyes, (too light, too loud), from one minute every little touch is killing him, to not being able to fee a cut that is heavly bleeding, eating is always a chore, but getting better w/ each day (doesnt like different textures explaims cold - ice cream or ice, goopy (as he calls it) - pasta , fluffy - frosting or cool whip), going to the bathroom and having 1 drop of pee on his underpants and wanting to be changed right here and now. (this doesnt work at all at school!!) We are also having problems w/ sitting because of hiperness (weighted vest), attention, sometime doesnt know when to control his angry. We are trying to control some of this, but am always looking for new and better ways. Well, thats all I can think of right off the top of my head. I know there is much much more. I hope this helps. ~Pamela > I'm sure the OT from school would be willing to give you " homework " . How > did you get the school to provide OT, I'm working on that one? What are > your sons issues? Guest guest
If you get approved for funding, it's only $40.00 a week (which is 1 hour). Hopefully, we will get speech also, and that's only $5 or $15 extra. They don't ask you personal financial questions either, but I did put on the form that we have medical expenses and other bills that we are paying. If you need more information, you can email me or give me a buzz (248)334-8339. Take care, Angie ---- Original Message ---- From: steenrollers@... Guest guest
Every so often I buy something for our home sensory integration program. Here's some info on places to buy products. They're happy to send you catalogs. Some times it's easier to see items in catalogs than on the websites.
