Guest guest
> >I suddenly didn't have time to enjoy my nightly glasses of wine. By the time we got into our house, I KNEW I had lost weight - sure enough, I'd gone down 8 pounds. << Hi , I am also just starting the SBD. I found your post rather interesting. I am one of those people who was lucky to be able to eat whatever I wanted and not gain weight. Then I discovered wine and started drinking it regularily. Now as I think back, that was when I started to slowly gain weight... could it be the wine??? Wow!! Guess I will find out as I am not having any during Phase 1. In fact, I may just stay away from it for good and just have the odd glass at special occasions. I am anxious to find out how big a difference it will make for me. Has anyone else noticed the same thing as ? Debra
Guest guest
Debra, That is funny! I will tell you ... keep doing what you're doing. When I did SB faithfully for the first few months, I absolutely had a totally changed WOE ... bread cravings - gone, which is amazing for me becuase I'm a bread-a-holic. Again, keep it up, and avoid the wine or at least limit it to special ococcasions, and you'll be amazed. One other " wine " note ... I've noticed that when I've had a couple of glasses, I will eat with total abandon. (haha) Meaning, I'll go make a piece of toast ... or 3. So, if I am going to indulge, I make sure I have a PLAN of action for when the munchies kick in ... and they always do. You'll do great ... and you'll feel sooooo great. Keep it up! ~karen > > , > OMG I could have written that email!!! LOL I was 5 lbs less at my 6 week postpartum visit than I was when I got preggo w/ my daughter and kept it off the whole time I nursed. Then, exactly like you, I gained like 20 lbs when she weaned. I was used to eating whatever I wanted because I could for 15 months. I do feel like after 10 weeks of the SBD way of eating, I have a ton more control over my cravings and appetite. I am back to realizing I can't just eat whatever I want and still look good. :-) >
Guest guest
Hi- I am new to the board and new to South Beach. Just finishing my 1st week. I thought the book said wine was ok . . . which really made me happy because I really love red wine. Now I am concerned . . . I'd like to hear more about this. Guest guest
Hi Kim and welcome to our wonderful group! It's been quiet here this weekend, but usually we're more chatty. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but I believe that wine is OK once you get to Phase 2. I'm thinking that 6 oz is allowed, but please don't quote me! lol Your best bet is to look at the Phase 2 allowed foods list that is in our files. Those lists are more up to date than the book. SBD also has a new (and improved) Guide to Good Carbs and Fats paperback book out that will probably have wine and alcohol info listed too. Good luck to you and I hope you like it here.
