Guest guest
I would attach them...we're appealing with UHC right now and I feel like we have to spell everything out for them. Things that seem black and white to everyone else are very gray to them for some reason. I feel like I hit a brick wall every time I talk to a representative! I would include anything and everything I could to help with the appeal so they can't say they didn't get the info. Also, a good piece of advice I received was to send my documents to them via certified mail with return receipt...that way they can't say they didn't get them. GOOD LUCK!!! Guest guest
I would send it all in. We just sent out our 3rd appeal, we have UHC, but had to send this 3rd appeal to dh's HR dept. The letter we sent in contianed all the info we could find and we made it very personal. I am happy to say dh recieved an email from his HR today stating they are giving UHC the approval needed to pay for Jacks helmet!!!!! I wish you luck, that seem to be the hardest part of this whole process. mom to Jack starband 4/02/07 > > Hey, All > > I am getting ready to send in my appeal packet to United Healthcare. Guest guest
I'm almost done with my appeal to UHC. The various appeals in the files section are an invaluable resource. I am so thankful for everyone who has added their appeal. I just had some questions.... Should I print out and include all the medical articles that are referenced in the appeal letter? If so how can I get them? Also, the examples of durable medical equipment under my plan are listed as " Braces that straighten or change the shape of a body part " . Would a cranial orthosis be considered DME under that listing? Is it a brace? I uploaded my letter into the files section. Thanks for any help you can give. Guest guest
Another question, should I actually get and send a copy of the doctors notes from my dd's 2 and 4 month check ups with my appeal letter? I'm going to call my insurance company today but I was hoping someone would have some experience on the subject... thanks Naomi > > I'm almost done with my appeal to UHC. Guest guest
Hi! I would include anything and everything you referenced in your letter and any doctor's notes that would support your case. I am appealing right now too and I got letters from my daughter's tech at CT, both physical therapists and her pediatrician. I posted a list of all the research articles I could get a hold of...it's in the files section on this board. My husband is a student at OU so I was able to use his login and gain access to them. Try a university library...that would probably be your best bet. If there is one in particular you're having trouble finding, let me know and I can email it to you (if I have it). I can't post them on here b/c of copyright laws but I can send it to you via email if you want. Just let me know! Good luck! Guest guest
Depending on what the doctor notes say...maybe or maybe not. If it takes about homework that you were given (ie. stretching, less time on back, etc.) and how you did that from 2-4 months then I would. I'd include a letter from your doctor saying why the particular band you got is needed. I had UHC and I didn't include the articles that I referenced. I really don't think that's necessary. The only thing I included was CT's notes (as we went at 3 months...were given homework...did it and didn't see results so we went back at 7 months.) I also included a letter from our doctor saying why the DOC band was necessary. In my appeal, I did say that the DOC band meets the DME requirements. I listed and showed how the DOC band met those requirements. I think I sent my appeal to you? If you'd like to see it I can send it again. At the bottom it says what I enclosed. > > > > I'm almost done with my appeal to UHC. The various appeals in the > > files section are an invaluable resource.
