Guest guest
Alice, The down side to Bextra is it can affect your liver. Make sure you get a baseline liver count done before and after initiation of Bextra. I took it for awhile and didn't have a prob. but know of others who have not been able to take it do to their liver. Good luck.
Guest guest
I tried to post this earlier but it never showed up on the list so please excuse me if this is a duplicate at some point. I have been using Vioxx since around 2000 and it's the only thing I have found that relieves the pain I live in day to day. It also amazingly enough relieves some of the dizziness if I take it. I've never taken it every day but only when the pain was really bad but just knowing I will no longer be able to get it has caused me concern today. I know all about recalls - have been thru a very involved one over the last week. Here comes another one and I know that it's only being done because it is necessary. I just wonder where the FDA testing before releasing to the market really is as a potential for heart attacks and/ir stroke is a pretty serious side affect in my book http://content.health.msn.com/content/article/94/102995.htm?GT1=5100 Alice
Guest guest
Alice Have you tried Bextra? That is what I take on a daily basis and then take Aleve for additional pain (like following falls). I also use Aleve when I have a headache I can't ignore. Good luck finding something to replace the Vioxx. laurie > > Reply-To: > Date: Thu, 30 Sep 2004 21:15:01 -0000 > To: > Subject: Vioxx Recall > > I tried to post this earlier but it never showed up on the list so > please excuse me if this is a duplicate at some point. Guest guest
Hi Laurie, No, I haven't tried Bextra. I'll have to talk to my PCP about this when I see her in October. I have a problem with Motrin, Ibuprofin and Aleve as they all cause me to have some serious stomach problems. Alice
Guest guest
The stomach issues are why the Vioxx, Bextra and Celebrex are so good. laurie > > Reply-To: > Date: Thu, 30 Sep 2004 16:09:28 -0600 > To: > > Subject: Re: Vioxx Recall > > Hi Laurie, > > No, I haven't tried Bextra. Guest guest
Alice, My rheumy took me off naprosyn due to stomach probs and put me on Vioxx, my neuro then took me of that due to the side effects he heard rumors about and placed me on Bextra. It also has been fairly expensive but is working well and doesnt upset my stomach at all.
