Guest guest
Hello Steve, welcome to Bandsters. We are a lovely lot of people, although we can be argumentative at times. I had my surgery about the same time as you (11 days ago) in France. I am eating loose scrambled egg, homemade vegetable soup whizzed with a blender, mashed bananas, the middle of a well cooked baked jacket potato, mashed avocado without dressing, milky oatmeal etc. I don't eat large quantities but do like variety. Maybe we should add a recipe page to the web site (Kim?). Good luck to you Steve, I am sure you will succeed. Love Janet At 14:36 17/05/99 +0200, you wrote: > A newbie says hello... Guest guest
Hi Steve ! and a warm welcome to the Bandsters !!! I am Swiss too, and have had my op in Lausanne, like you. Dr Ghavami, at the Clinique de La Source did it. Who was your surgeon ? The follow-up is made by Dr Suter (formerly at the CHUV in Lausanne), in Aigle, where I live. You are the third Swiss on this list. It's great !!! :-)) ... even though I don't feel any bad with the members from all over the world. You will find a great bunch of people in here. All the questions can be asked, and you will always find somebody to answer. Welcome again !!! Also chowder is great if you like it!! Don't worry about not losing weight, it'll happen, I had my surgery 3/24/99 and I worried just like you!!! Just wait till your first weigh in, you'll be amazed. Take Care!!! T. Washington State, USA

Guest guest
hi Steve and welcome, i had my surgery January 5, 1998 i have lost about 50 pounds and am feeling great about myself. i have had one real adjustment and am ready to do another in the next couple of weeks. i had my surgery at Mount Sinai hospital in new York, USA and had my adjustment in New Orleans. i will be going back to new York for the next fill and then i will decide where i want my follow up to continue. i am in the bioenterics research group in the USA and was fortunate to have my insurance pay for almost all of the surgery and pre-op tests, i pay out of pocket for travel and fills and follow up care (which i feel should be paid for by Bioenteric since they are still in the FDA approval stage in the USA). i have been heavy all of my adult life and most of my teen years. i am very healthy and very happy with my decision to get the band. although my weight loss is slow it has been easier than anytime in my life i have dieted, due to the fact that i have a helper now which i will depend on to help me maintain the weight loss that i will continue to work on reducing. any questions you have just fire away the gang here is the greatest and most interesting group of novice psychiatrists (myself included) that money can buy. lol OOXXOO Liz

Guest guest
Don't worry . I haven't had the op yet, but wan't badly to have it done (I am 125kg)and I am getting most of my opposition from my family. My father has convinced himself that I will end up with 2 stomachs! I wonder whether I will also grow another oesophagus, intestines etc? They of all people know the struggle I have had with my weight. Hopefully when your friends see the weight coming off, they will understand your decision and that the negative aspects of having the op are just minor inconveniences compared to being obese. Cheers Newbie Hi, just wanted to introduce myself. My name is and I'm 32 years old. Just had the SAGB op last week and so far so good. I'd love to hear from anyone who has had this procedure particularly in Sydney. Feel free to email me. I am so happy to have found this support group. It feels great to know that there are others out there that can understand what I'm going thru. Has anyone else had a problem where there friends just cant understand why you have done this? Guest guest
They are made by Power Bar just a lower calorie version of an energy bar. Usually around 110 cal. I usually grab one after work when I'm on my way to the gym. I don't like to work out hungry but I also don't feel like eating and then working out. They work perfect. Guest guest
hey everyone, though i'm new to this list, i'm not new to Weight Watchers...I lost about 25-30 lbs 2 years ago on the plan (the only weight loss plan ever that worked for me!) and stopped going to meetings a year after starting thinking i could keep it going on my own...well...though i have maintained many of the new and healthy patterns taught by Weight Watchers I've recently felt that I've started to slip into old habits. So I figured with the new flexpoints plan, I would go back and re-learn things and finally get to my weight goal. I'm not sure how much I've regained since I've stopped going to meetings (eek!)...but I'll find out tomorrow when I attend my first meeting. I wanted to join this board for support, moral, ideas, recipes, stories (especially success, I LOVE hearing success stories) and community! I'll be leaving to the supermarket later to get groceries to help start of for tomorrow. If anyone has any suggestions for good low- point snacks, (I get hungry between meals at work and need something to keep me from running to the horrible vending machines) I would appreciate it greatly. Thanks much!!!

I feel better than I did 10 years ago and can't wait to start phase 2! MMMM....whole grain bread! Can't wait! I'm so glad I found this group...it's good to have support!
