Guest guest
Shauna....Try cutting back on the salt.....that might be one of your problems... a Hi Joya, Yes, I am on meds, but I was on them while on Atkins and lost. I think it's just so depressing! I was so excited about WW and haven't lost anything in 8 almost 9 days. I will keep trying. I do take Wellabutrin, and some muscle relaxers, and some pain medication. I take meds to boost my thryoid, but if anything those would help me in losing. I use salt on about everything and I've been eating lots of WW and Lean Cuisines for lunch and sometimes dinner. I also eat slim fast and WW ice ceam bars and stuff, but never go over my points. I do eat bread everyday too, but it's whole wheat I get at a bakery and only has 1 point per slice. I usually don't eat more than 3 slices per day, if that. I'm trying to increase my veggies too so that those can fill me up. Don't know what else to do. I wonder if I am getting too many carbs? I may end up joining online and quit going to the meetings. Shauna
Guest guest
Do not be disapointed about your weight... meds can really mess you up and slow weight loss... also cut back on your frozen dinners.. they are loaded in sodium and can make u retain water.. I know all about that LOL.. .So... dont be hard on yourself.... I do WW online and love it.. Good luck Honi Honi
Guest guest
my best friend started WW 4 weeks ago and went through the same thing, she didn't lose a single pound week 1 or week 2, week 3 she lost 2.6 pounds and this week she weighs in today.. She didn't cheat and she was eating right around the middle of her range and same as you she lost about 30 pounds on Atkins. We have no idea why she wasn't losing but now her losses are on a role. I myself don't like meetings, WW online is better for me as I use the message boards for support. Hang in there, your losses will come Started on 05/07/03 244/211.2.135 Lost 32.8 pounds! ____________________________________________________ IncrediMail - Email has finally evolved - Click Here
Guest guest
Yeah, that's it...I have whole wheat bread instead of white...one thing I did learn from Atkins that I plan to do for life is avoid sugar as much as possible. Joya -------Original Message------- Is a glycemic index the thing that tells you which carbs are basically bad and which ones are good? If it is, I have one my doctor gave me. Such as a sweet potato is better to eat than a typical baking potato? And Special K cereal is better than eating a bowl of corn flakes? ____________________________________________________ IncrediMail - Email has finally evolved - Click Here
Guest guest
Take this from a person who did Atkins for almost 3 years and then switched to WW right away. Your body needs to get used the the change. You just input carbs and some sugars back into your diet and your body is in shock. Please be happy you did not GAIN weight as a result of the change. Atkins is a great short term diet, if you slowly incorportate carbs back in when you are finished. I lost 86 pounds on low-carb, but my health was suffering for it. Now I feel better while on WW and I can see myself living this lifestyle forever. so don't give up, stick with it. This is the better way of life, trust me. Guest guest
Did you come straight over from Atkins? (If so, you may still be building up your depleted glycerol stores.) ---- I find that things that make a difference tend to be as simple as when I drink water and when I've eaten. My first weigh-in was before dinner. My subsequent weigh-ins were AFTER dinner, and the week I postponed dinner, the scales showed quite a difference. I've also hopped on the scales before the meeting (as per usual), drank water during the meeting, hopped back on and "gained" 1/2 pound. As long as you know you stayed on track, it's virtually guaranteed that you lost. By the way, when I started, I also had set up a very short-term, "let's see if this works" goal. I don't know if I would have stuck it out a couple of weeks without a loss, but perhaps you'll be encouraged that it's virtually guaranteed that if you stick to your points (because it is a fairly low calorie diet), you will lose. As far as the people at the scales, they are not really supposed to interact with us, except for being friendly. Perhaps you put her on the spot with a direct question. In the future, you may want to address the leader only. We saw a few weeks ago what happened when a weigher person was a bit too chatty !! Basically, us customers at the scales can be very stressed, and it's a mine-field for them. They don't really want to say anything, because who knows what we'll interpret it as? As far as the meeting, I find them pretty "light-weight". I've done co-counselling, which can get pretty intense. I don't find WW meetings to be "support group-y" at all, in contrast. No one really goes very deep, although weight loss is one of those areas that people can need a lot of healing in. If you want to go heavy, there are counselors who work with weight-loss (I saw one last year, it was fabulous. Got a lot of things cleared up). There's also OA (Over- eaters Anonymous), which is a 12-step approach to food obsessions, addictions, etc. Neither of these are necessarily weight loss programs tho. It all depends what you're looking for, what kind of support you want, etc. Sorry to be so long-winded! -Elissa My 1st weigh in, a disappointment Hi,As of today I have been doing WW for 9 days. I went to my 1st weigh in this morning since I started a week ago and haven't lost one pound, I'm still exactly the same. I haven't cheated or went over, not once. I haven't exercised all all this week because I am having back problems right now. Don't know if that was my problem or not. A friend of mine thought perhaps I am retaining water today, but I don't know. I asked the lady at the counter who weighed me and took my 12.00 how could this be and she wasn't very nice at all, just said it can take 2 weeks before any weight loss. As a matter of fact this was my second meeting and the ladies that check people in aren't the least bit friendly or helpful at all. The lady was annoyed with me because I didn't have my card that is stored in a file box on a table, I didn't know anything about a card, I was never told I had one. So I had to go find my card and get back at the end of the line. 'Snotty' is the word that comes to mind when explaining these people who check you in.The lady who was running the discussion seemed fairly nice, however I found the meeting to be 'cheesy'. She got on the topic of how difficult it is to measure out a tablespoon of peanut butter. This lead to a 10 minute discussion on how a person could measure it. I thought this was stupid to say the least, use a tablespoon, that is what I do!From there the lady running the discussion announced that she was going to do 3 cart wheels and then she did. She didn't say why she did the cart wheels, she just did them. I don't know if it's just me or what, but the whole thing was 'odd'. Is this how most meetings are ran?I'm going to stick with the plan for at least another week and go weigh in next Saturday morning. I don't know what to do if I haven't lost anything by then. This is very discouraging.Sorry about venting, does anyone have input on this?ThanksShauna
Guest guest
Shauna, I haven't been to a WW meeting in a few years, but you might want to see if there is another time you can go to. Maybe you will feel more comfortable with a different leader and different receptionists. Guest guest
I have to say that the leader at a meeting can make or break a meeting. I have been to meetings with several different leader throughout the years. I just love the one I go to now. I have to say if it werent for her that I wouldnt get anything out of the meetings. I am 31 and have been to WW off and on since I was 14 years old. I know more about WW than most leaders, but knowing how to diet isn't what it is all about. At the meeting we are going to now we get "Bravo" star sticker for staying for the meetings and I love to put those in my book. My first meeting I was really depressed for some reason. My leader gave me the star sticker and told me she was proud of me for staying for the meeting. That night the star sticker really meant something to me. Maybe there is another meeting you can try or another night with another leader. I get alot of motivation from the WW message boards. They will answer any question I have any time of the day. Good Luck and God Bless, Ann
