Cindy,

THANK YOU! I couldn't have put it better. Even though I am the owner

of the group, I am not always active with it. But when I started

this group was to provide support... mostly Weight Watcher

support... but I am so glad that it's evolved into something more

then just WW. This is a very large group, and I guess we can't keep

everyone happy all the time. I would perfer that the ones who aren't

happy with the group, just leave quitely... instead of passing along

their negativity on to the rest of us that are enjoying ourselves

here.

Once again THANK YOU CINDY :o)

IM picking up a lot of pointers, encouragement and support on this list. Folks on this list have lost 1 or 2 lbs at a time. That's 1 or 2 lbs I know I can lose because they did. If I dont want to read an email I simply skip it. This is a very personal battle. It helps to have support.

Well said Cindy. I don’t post very

often but I find this list very encouraging, and if they’d stuck around

instead of judging it on one day’s conversation they’d find that

out.

To all members

old and new!

There have been several negative emails tonight

about this group. Some groups are not for everyone and if you are

offended by the friendships we have, then perhaps it is best that you

find another group.

This group has provided LOTS of WW

information, support, recipes and encouragement. However, we

realize many things in life contribute to our weight problems. We also

realize that there are positive aspects in life that help us to be well

rounded (forgive the pun) individuals.

Yes...we DO talk about quitting smoking (it is

because of THIS group that I made THAT decision) as well as personal problems

and, YES, even our pets!!! That is why I LOVE this group!!! We

are a group of friends with a common goal (weight loss). But, because

we ARE friends, we feel comfortable to discuss other aspects of life. I

hope that never changes.

Good luck on your search for a new group. But

I can tell you one thing...you will not find a BETTER group of people!

Cindy

I know I don't post alot but I can see that this is a good group. Even though I don't always post, I read everyone's posts and responses. There are some people you couldn't please no matter what. And I know some people that weight and food is their whole life. It is like you said, our lives are so much more and those other things can affect our weight loss. I am so glad to see that we are free to discuss our lives. I love the discussion about your pets. I don't have rotties but I have pomeranians and I have been called obssessed with them. My little Dixie just had a birthday and she got a new toy. I wouldn't change anything about this group. I feel honored to be a part of it.

Darn, I'm so sorry. After reading a couple of other posts,

I realised I may have been too glib. Even a breakup that

was chosen would leave a loss, and I'm sorry for your loss. 8-(

I'm glad you feel ease here, and thanks for letting me know I'd

reached the wrong conclusion.

If you need a shoulder, we're here for you!

*hugs*

Re: To all members old and new!

Hi Elissa,

Actually, I am not upbeat about the loss of my marriage but I am trying to be upbeat because I need to get my old mind back. Right now, I am numb. I do not know how long it takes to get back to normal under these circumstances. I am making this choice. I chose to end the marriage but it still hurts. Believe it or not, I gained so much weight since I got married. Now, I am going to concentrate on family and myself. This group is such a great relaxation for me because in such a short time I feel at ease with people I do not even know.

I had a lot of loss about three years ago. I picked up from

my chosen town of residence (Buffalo, NY) after living there

22 years. I was 41, and I'd moved there when I was 19.

I'm in Australia now, with my husband, and a fair amount

of friends, but hardly any with whom I'm very close. I

definitely know how the change of life, and what missing is

like.

I did see a grief counselor for a while (she was the one who

also did work on food. Perhaps I mentioned that before). If

you find yourself needing someone to talk with, I recommend

counseling.

I think counseling's come a long way since the old idea of

therapists and being in therapy forever (a la Woody

movies). Anyhow, I thought I'd mention it as an option, in

case you find yourself really low with no one to talk to.

(As a caveat:

Be careful of therapists who are uncomfortable with emotions,

or MDs who will automatically prescribe drugs. Emotions are

natural reactions to painful occurances, and releasing them

is the healing process from those occurances. We all have

emotions. Nothing to be scared of. Just sort of "what is".

I'd avoid those counselors like a plague. No reason to be

dosed for emotions that DO resolve themselves over time.

Drugs that interfere with the feeling emotions will interfere

with the natural healing process.)

Anyhow, be kind and loving to yourself,

*hugs*
