What does off program mean?

, I don't think your question is lame at all, but I think you're going

to get a variety of subjective answers!

My subjective answer is that being on program means calculating, measuring

and recording (written or otherwise) your food choices each day. Let's say your

points target is 24. Being on program can include nothing but Twinkies all

day, if you stay within your 24 points. Being on program can mean balanced

food choices too. It can mean using 59 points (or even more) in one day if you

use all 24 points plus your 35 flex points for the week plus even some Activity

Points. Of course that would mean that for the rest of your week you would

have to stay right on 24 each day! But that would allow you to go to a

favorite restaurant and indulge in their yummy bread with some (measured!)

butter,

your dinner choice and possibly even dessert.

To me being off program is NOT counting, not measuring, not recording in some

way. So far I haven't done that in nearly 13 months on program. I've used

up a lot of points in one day, for sure, but I've always done the calculating

and held myself accountable. ly, I see myself doing that for the rest of

my life in order to maintain my weight loss. Sometimes that thought is

scary.....but the alternative thought is scarier yet! I do NOT want to put this

weight back on.

It will be interesting to see what other answers you get. Ultimately you'll

have to make up your own mind about what being " on program " means!!

Hello,

If someone could clarify for me, what is exactly meant by being " off

program " ?

We can eat anything right? So no food is technically " off program " - but

if I don't journal it, is that " off program " ?

If I don't do *every one* of the good health habits, am I " off program " ?

I'm asking this because I want to do a challenge (for myself) to be " on

program " for a specified period of time, but then realized that I don't

know what it means EXACTLY to be " on program " or " off program " .

How lame is that? You guys are definitely going to have to bear with me.

I'll be a serious weight watcher yet.

I guess " off program " might mean different things to different people

because we CAN eat anything we want to.

Some might think it's off program if they eat their own personal red light

foods, even if they count the points.

In my opinion it seems that going " off " means going over the points for the

day and using more points than the flex points you have left. If you eat

your target amount of points and more flex points than you have left then

that's going off, but if you eat your target points and have flex points

left then you are still on so to speak.

I think that the water is included in the daily act of being on program and

to do as much exercise as you can personally manage or fit in.

Well, to me there is a difference between 'on program' and 'Perfectly on

program'

On Program would just be staying with in your points and flex points. It

wouldn't matter if you kept track in a journal, or quick journal (just

checking the little boxes in the ww journal) or kept track on a bracelet.

Perfectly on Program would mean getting all you water, vegetables, milk,

exercising regularly, and journaling everything.

Off Program would mean you went over your allotted points for the week.

Hi , going off program to me means, not journalling, not staying

within the daily range of points, not measuring and weighing foods..

In other words keeping at my daily target..

There are many other things that will mean different things to others

for ex: some may consider it not being on program if they do not get

their veggies, fruits, grains, water etc on an even keel.. Or maybe

have slacked off their activities.. I try to do the right food thing,

but there are times when I am all over with it too, not eating right,

BUT still within my target...my activity I love, so that is not

usually a problem...

I do not consider any foods off limit except my own red-light foods,

and those I do need to be very wary of when I have them and

where..for ex: I may be able to have a measured amount of the ice-

cream at someone else's house and be ok..but not at my own, where I

may throw caution to the wind..because it is just that, a very heavy

RED light food to me..

So I guess basically I would say not staying within one's target

point range regardless of how you manage it, whether with your

written journal or in some other way....would be considered off

program for me..

I think it's different for everyone. To me being off program, is

not journaling and eating whatever I can get my grimy hands on.

Others being off program includes all the things that WW wants you

to do. So to them it is: not journaling, not getting their milk in,

not getting their water in, not getting their fruits & veggies in

and not getting their multivitamins in. Even if I don't hit

everything, everyday, I still consider it an OP as long as I've been

within my points, journaled and didn't eat nothing but crap all day.

If someone could clarify for me, what is exactly meant by being " off

program " ?
