>Good luck with your helmet today. I was emotional over the whole

thing too. I was so sure my son would hate it and that the whole thing

would be horrible. Boy was I wrong! From day one, he slept in it and

was just fine. He actually fusses when we take his helmet off for the

hour. He pats his head like " where's my helmet? " As soon as I put it

back on, he's happy. People have been great about it. Someone always

knows somebody who's child had one too. The best thing is, from the

first week, I saw improvement. He's been in his since June 29th and at

our last appt. they said he was halfway done. Most of the correction

has occured and now we're just going for fine tunning. We could very

well be done in 3 months instead of the 5-7 months we were told. Good

luck, it will be fine and your son will have a beautiful round head at

the end of it all.

Hi,

bands require fda approval to make sure they don't cause problems for

growing brains. my dd wore hers for 5 mo, was on time or early for all

milestones, and now at 19 mo has a huge vocabulary - so I'm sure her

brain is fine.

Sleeping takes a little longer to adjust to for some babies but

usually withing two weeks things are back to normal. Some babies never

miss sleep.

let us know how it goes.

Congratulations! This is the start of a great adventure that will

give you peace of mind and a rounder head :-)

My advice is to wear the helmet as much as possible during the break

in period and really watch for red marks and itchy head. Fortunately,

it is early in the week so the office will be open theses first few

days for questions. Do call your orthotist/tech for anything. That's

what they are there for and be sure to make additional appointments

for adjustments, if needed. Correct fit is important and will help

your darling through this process.

My dd was fine with the band the first 2 days and then needed some

adjustments and help with itchies. If you end up needing suggestions,

please ask and I will share what worked for us. Not many kiddos have

these issues, though. Many are fine the whole way through!

I wish you lots of luck and have fun decorating!
