Hi

thank you very much for offering to help me...it is much appreciated. Below

is a copy of the letter I think might be useful in an emergency. If any

other Bandsters can think of anything I have forgotten or is wrong with this

one please let me know. I am sure that Jessie is right and there will

probably be someone around in a hospital that speaks English but I would

just feel safer to have this available....just in case! Here goes:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

My name is Helen on and I come from the UK. If possible could you get

me someone who speaks English please. I have a Swedish Adjustable Gastric

Band placed around my stomach to help me lose weight. My doctor’s name is:

Mr. Fiennes Telephone (England) 0

If you ring my doctor and tell him the problem he will be able to advise

you.

I am in a lot of pain. I think there is a piece of food stuck in my band

and my band needs to be deflated in order to let the food go down. I have a

port on my sternum. You need to use a ‘Huber Needle’ (the same as the ones

used for cancer patients who have a port for drugs) that has the hole to the

side and is blunter so that the rubber in the port is not damaged. I think

you need to withdraw about 5 mls of fluid from my port.

Thank you very much for your help.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

thanks again ....we leave very early on Tuesday morning...so if you

could do it before then I would be very grateful :))
