Guest guest
i am new to this site & not sure of the proper procedure on posting a message--i am just now researching the ds surgery--i scheduled an appointment @ mt sinai in nyc with dr ibanet--he was the one with the first available appointment in that group of doctors--i have a problem with patience. i am 45 years old & had a stroke in october that i have recovered from, but injured some disc in my neck, then last week i was admitted to the hospital with conjestive heart failure--i have been battling shortness of breath since december, but my disability insurance company deemed able to return to work, so i did--now i am back out again..my weight is 399.2 & bmi 60 (today is the first time i have done the bmi--fear, i guess) i have tried everything out there--but now realize i need to do this or die-which i am not ready to do-- thank you all for your words of wisdom & support, i plan for this site to be a daily stop on my journey.. ogretta 399.2 lbs 60 bmi pre-op
Guest guest
Good Luck SHeila Ciar-- After this surgery alot of people suffer depression on and off. Your whole body chemistry is changed your homes have to adjust and your whole life habits are being changed whether you want to or not. Im a newly switch but I was always remember how the weight was there and now it is going away like a bad headache, so which way so look at the good, the lifelong battle with weight which we werent winning has been conquered and we won! Guest guest
Ogretta- I had my surgery with Dr. Herron in the group at Mt. Sinai. He is wonderful'caring and just fabulous. If you can go to him. You won't be sorry. Also' i had constant care fromthe minute I got into my room from surgery until the minute I left the hospital. I used the companions offered at the hospital which was on the same foor as the surgical waiting room. It was $135 a 12 hour shift. I could not have been without them and have been as succesful as I was. They kept me clean and healthy through it all. Anything I needed they were there. If you want to call me I will tell you all. Send me your e-mail address. Ellen(Pam)

Guest guest
Darlene-You hire the companion at the hospital. You don' need a private duty nurse. That is what I did a t Mt. Sinai and the companions were wonderful. Where are you having the surgery?Ellen(Pam
Guest guest
Hi Ellen (Pam) ? I am hopefully going to have my surgery in Maine at The Maine General Hospital, in Agusta Maine. I know very little about it since I live about 2 hours away. I have had 4 C-sections in four different hospitals in three different states but no-one ever mentioned a companion. Is it someone who just does stuff for you? Do they come home with you? It sounds very interesting. Can I be nosy and ask why you post with two names? Where did you have your surgery, that they had these companions. Thanks for responding Darlene Darlene from Maine BMI 42.9 Waiting to meet Dr. Aslam May 24, 2001 Darlene-You hire the companion at the hospital. You don' need a private duty nurse.
