I use one that has mustard, worcestershire sauce, butter (or substitute) and

vinegar. This is a very good basting sauce. (And it's definitely Southern!!!

I'm from La.)

Yes, that's the sort of thing I'm looking for. All the barbeque sauce recipes I

can find are for the tomato kind of sauces. I love those Southern barbeque

sauces that are mostly mustard and vinegar. Do you sweeten it at all? And if

so, with what. Do you have a recipe?

Betsy, you don't need to sweeten it. It's a perfect sauce for grilling

anything. I use it on chicken, steaks, shish-ka-bobs, pork chops, shrimp,

hamburgers.....everything! And....you really don't need a recipe. I use 2

sticks margarine (or whatever you use), several T. of mustard, 2 or 3 T.

worcestershire sauce, and about 4 T. vinegar. I just pour everything into my

saucepan until it looks right.....not too thick and not too thin. Let us know

how it turns out!

Hi ,

For the BBQ sauce, could you be more specific...what is a 'stick' of

margarine?

Thanks,

Lynn

Well, a pound of margarine or butter is divided into 4 " sticks " . Everyone I

know refers to it as a stick.....didn't know what else to call it!

I believe every stick is 8 tablespoons....I don't have any on hand to check,

though.
