Guest guest
Constipation! Yes I've read the posts on taking Metamucil and am considering adding it to my daily intake but I just don't get it. With all the veggies and salads I am eating, I find it hard to believe that this is even an issue. I would love it if someone could enlighten me. I think I need a good dose of oatbran that is being talked about....well 4 more days until I can consider that :-) Kim/VT
Guest guest
It's from the lack of fiber in the diet in phase 1. Veggies are roughage, but it's still not the same. I was having the same problem but then started taking benefiber 2-3 times a day (much more dissolvable in water than metamucil) and it's helped tremendously!!! kconnelly38 kimconnelly@...> wrote: Constipation! Guest guest
Oh my gosh!! I have just started phase two. I am down 10 pounds (yeah). I am sooo constipated though. I'm on day 5 of not going to the bathroom. My husband made me take laxatives because he was concerned. Never again!! I was up the whole night if you know what I mean. It was also embarrassing when I went out to lunch the next day with my friends. I also thought how could this be? I am living on green leafy vegetables and lean meats. Maybe the water is the problem. I am not a water person. I have made an concerted effort to drink more. I hope this problem works itself out real soon. I'm not liking this. SBD is awesome!! 10 pounds in two weeks. Only 15 pounds to go to make it to my first goal. dmrushing momma_donna@...> wrote: Kim; That's a common complaint for folks going through P1. How is your water intake? Guest guest
LOL, Kim, I know the feeling! I had the same problem for months, but it is a lot better now. I thought the same thing, with all the veggies and beans, you'd think we'd never stop going! ann > > Constipation! Guest guest
Hi Deb! Congrats on the weight loss! Try adding the water and some fiber supplements and see if that helps. I had the same problem. ann > > Oh my gosh!! I have just started phase two. I am down 10 pounds (yeah). I am sooo constipated though. I'm on day 5 of not going to the bathroom. Guest guest
Deborah and all, First way to go on 10lbs down. That is AWESOME! The beach is the best thing I have EVER done for myself and I am so into it. My water intake could be better. I drink 32-40oz/day which for me is pretty good but I will work on getting up to 64. I decided that I am going to add benefiber/metamucil to my day as I don't see this getting any better anytime soon. Once I transition into P2, I by no means will be getting enough fiber then either as I am planning on taking it very slow adding food back in. I actually never knew that roughage was different from fiber so it makes sense I guess. Maybe you should consider the addition of some kind of fiber supplement too. I know others here have talked about how it has helped. Kim/VT > > Oh my gosh!! I have just started phase two. I am down 10 pounds (yeah). I am sooo constipated though. Deb, To understand constipation with fiber in your diet, you have to understand just what's going on in there and water 'n fat both play a part along with the type of fiber you pick. The more soluble fiber you get, the more easily it's all going to work its way out. The more water you drink the more easily it will work its way out. I tell my little girl all the time that she needs to drink more water and eat less cheese. We can always tell when she's been getting the wrong things (she's a stubborn little bugger) because she'll get constipated.
Guest guest
Constipation is a nasty booger. I was a chronic suffered until I removed all cow's milk products from my diet, a year and half ago. I found that Colace, a gentle stool softener, was very helpful when backed up. Better than a laxative, and not gassy like Metamucil. Try it. It's great! ~....new to the list kconnelly38 kimconnelly@...> wrote: Deborah and all, First way to go on 10lbs down. That is AWESOME!
