Guest guest
Bill Welcome to hospital stays MSA style, a bit of a shock, isn't it? If you haven't seen any of our notes concerning hospital stays, it is much like the boy scout motto, " Be Prepared " You quickly discover they don't know what MSA is. My advice has always been that you don't leave a patient alone in the hospital. We also discovered that placing signs over the bed was helpful. As you found out, our MSA patients can not always respond nor can they argue the point that they have to have their meds on time. Glad Kate didn't have to stay too long. If it happens again, you'll know what to do. We have all had experiences we would rather forget but for the most part it isn't that the staff doesn't want to help, it's just that they don't understand what needs to be done and that most of them do not have the time to do it. This is coming to you from someone who has worked in hospitals and from the mother of a recovery room nurse who says " short-handed " is a way of life today.
