, I know it takes me longer to heal from any little cut. Have to keep

it clean and use neosporin on it. Seems like a month before a small cut will

heal. Even the bruises take forever.

Be careful and don't wait for it to get really bad. and Shame on you

again!!!! You know you have to do the blood tests!!!!! I swear I'm coming

to VA ASAP and knock you into shape. Who is looking after you?? Please take

some of you own advise.

I worry about you and I don't want another ulcer.

I have an appt with my PCP today. I'm flaring again and going to see if he

will start the IMuran today. I now know I need more than the pred.

Let me know how you are doing and GET that blood test. Don't want you liver

to be messed up too.

Have I scared you yet???LOL

Hi

I'm not on Imuran, but re: cutting your skin, I would find it best to

disinfect the cut thoroughly ASAP and use an antibiotic cream and cover it

and try not to get the wound wet.

Then after about 12 hrs or more, remove the bandage and disinfect again and

check the wound. If necessary, use more antibiotic cream and keep the wound

covered. If it still looks nasty or getting worse, then contact your

doctor... There is no harm in taking extra precautions, especially for ppl

taking immunosuppresants... then if the wound looks ok let it air dry.

hope this helps... and I won't ask about the coat hanger... LOL just

kidding :o)

luv ya

Carmela

Another alternative is to clean VERy thoroughly then put paper tape ( I think it's called micopore tape). You can only do this if there's no infection to begin with. You have to cut the edges rounded. put the tape on when the skin is really clean and really DRY. THen LEAVE IT ON. Micropore/paper tape has holes in it so it breathees and water will come thorugh it. so if you take a bath you can get it wet -- just press a towel on top of it and the water wil come through the tape into the towel. This often works better for healing because it gives the skin a surface to grow along. You leave it on until the thing is healed and you'll notice it heals faster and better. If you take it of -like taking off other tape it'll rip off some of the new forming cells and disrupt the "line".

This works GREAT for kids because after you clean and dry it (remmber DON"T use if it's infected!!!!) and put it on the pain goes away pretty quickly.....
