Guest guest
News from An Organized LifeThis might be a silly question to some of you with a bit more culinary know-how, but do you know if WW has put out any kind of book of recipes designed for the grill? I bought my dh a grill as an early Father's Day present and we haven't turned on the oven since. That's wonderful and all (I certainly LOVE not having to cook), but we are running out of WW friendly recipes and neither of us are very good at converting oven to grill (heck I have problems converting standard to low-fat, low-cal) - we just don't know enough about that sort of thing. I am getting really tired of chicken and chops marinated in FF Italian Dressing LOL! Any direction or suggestions would be SO greatly appreciated! Thanks a bunch, --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guest guest
Most recipes for the grill are pretty point-friendly, I think. I have a couple of recipes that are standbys for me. The first is a pepper rub chicken. I don't have the recipe in front of me, but it's a rub made from chili powder, white pepper, black pepper, and a touch of soy. Rub it into boneless, skinless chicken breasts and marinate for a few hours, then grill. Spicy but really good. The second is a pork loin fajita recipe that I got out of the Chevy's cook book. Marinate the pork in a mixture of soy sauce, flour, garlic, lemon juice, and a couple of other ingredients, then grill until cooked all the way through. The other part of the fajita filling is made with green apples, onions, bacon (my wife and I use turkey bacon, 1 pt. per slice, and you only need two), and sugar (we use sugar substitute). Serve with La Tortilla flour tortillas, the kind that are 1/2 pt. per tortilla, and a teaspoon of jalapeno pepper jelly. Outstanding stuff. By the way, what kind of grill? Gas or charcoal? Be warned that I'm a charcoal purist, and I use a chimney, not lighter fluid, to light my coals. ;-) > News from An Organized LifeThis might be a silly question to some of you with a bit more culinary know-how, but do you know if WW has put out any kind of book of recipes designed for the grill? > > I bought my dh a grill as an early Father's Day present and we haven't turned on the oven since. Guest guest
I took a grilling class a few years ago and here are the tips that I remember........ Most of the recipes called for rubbing meats with oil, I just take a plate and fill it with water and dip meat (pork, chicken, beef) in and sprinkle with one of the following. Lawry's Seasoning Salt-0 points Spice Island spices (there are several kinds, I like the Key West one the best)-0 points Chili Powder or Cayanne Pepper-0 points Lemon Pepper-0 points Any kind of store bought rubs (Jerk is pretty strong so don't use a lot until you know you like it) usually -0 points also a mixture of garlic powder, onion powder and black pepper is good too. Just wet meat, either sprinkle seasoning on or rub it on, then grill as usual. I have a really good Grilled Chicken Ceasar Salad recipe, it's in mastercook, I will send it in a bit, since if I open my master cook and email at the same time my computer will freeze. Its a gas grill - Charbroil stainless steel, 3 burners plus the side burner. Its definitely a Cadillac as far gas goes. I do honestly like the flavor of charcoal better but dh was never very good cooking on them but he is awesome on the gas - I can't get my meat anywhere near as juicy in the oven or even on the stove top. Plus we like to grill in all weather year around so its simpler on the gas. Thanks for all the grilling ideas - I really appreciate it. Guest guest
<>I got lite raspberry vinaigrette and marinated pork loin in it. I bet it would be good on the grill; it was great in a skillet. <> Oooh...that does sound good. I will definitely need to go shopping. I bet even the girls would love that. ;-) Thanks!
