Lap Band Hi everybody, My name is and I just joined the group. I would like to obtain some practical advise regarding best hospital / doctor to be referred to in order to get a Lap Band put in on a public hospital anywhere in Sydney. Can anyone advise please? I am obviously not the only one who is sick of being dictated by chemicals in my brain to self medicate thru eating, I really would like something which works and as far as I have been able to identify there are roughly only two major obstacles: 1. You can still cheat by eating ice cream etc., so it is a team effort between yourself and the band. 2. The band can move out of its ideal position which obsoletes the Lap Band. Does this happen often? Are any brands less likely to shift than others? Let hear you boys and girls. Cheers, Sie.

Guest guest
Hi All They replaced the whole band I have a really sore back & I think I will take off the big bandaid thingy today as I feel it is pulling my back over & making it hard to stand up straight Suzanne Lap Band Welcome home Suzanne. I was in hospital last week and I searched the Hospital Directory, hoping that they would have an internet lounge. Just think how inspiring that would be if you had to get up and walk to the lounge for a session on the net. They didnt have one..... I think your New Business Idea would be a hit - I would have hired a laptop if it was available. Sorry to hear your first band decided it wasnt going anywhere and you had to go open. I have never heard of the rubber ring leaking before. Did they replace the whole thing, or leave the port where it was? Guest guest
Hi Suzanne, there are such companys, hubby has spent nearly 3 out of every 4 weeks in hospital since July last year so a laptop was a must have! but they are very expensive (200+ per month), luckily we have friends in IT so they lent us one for free, if I'd known you where in I would have brought it over for you. Guest guest
, do what I did, ring around all the hospitals asking if they have any surgeons that do Gastric banding surgery there. My doctor didn't know of any to refer me to except one that was in there list of surgeons book, and he had an 18 month waiting period just to get an appointment to see him! So I just rang around all the hospitals and then rang all the doctors to find out waiting times and if they did public etc. Carina > Hi everybody, > > My name is and I just joined the group. Guest guest
Yes, I am in Melbourne. I am actually from Tassie (born and inbred.....really), hence I think I am a little more "down home" than some of these city slickers! The support gropup meetings are great and are currently being held at my place, which is 514 Orrong Road, Armadale. Phone number is (03)9509 0444. The next meeting is at 7:30 pm on Tuesday 18th September 2001 (Third Tuesday of the month). You would be most welcome to come and have a gas bag with us. Love, Liz. -----Original Message-----From: Darren and Sent: Sunday, 26 August 2001 8:25 PMTo: ozband Subject: Re: Lap Band Thanks Liz for your welcome and helpful advise. Are you from Melbourne? I was thinking about coming to the next support meeting. I live in Ballarat and so far there isn't a support group here, though there is talk of one. Anyway hope to talk to you soon. RE: Lap Band Welcome . I had no probs with insurance. I think if your doctor gives the OK, then Medicare covers it. I have been to see Skinner and I am looking forward to having the lap band done. Can anyone tell me if they have had him as a surgeon and what he is like. I would also be grateful on any input good and bad about the band. I am booked in to see Stuart again in September and hope to book in then for the operation. Also can anyone tell me if they had any problems with there health Insurance? My Health insurance HIF told me to get in writing that Medicare would cover the op so that they would, what do you think? Love to know how the band has worked for you. Looking forward to talking to you all and have found this sight great reading. By the way I am 32 and 109kg and 173cm. ozband website: http://www.ozband.com
