Guest guest
Dear Sandy, My pulmonologist has given me another dx: asthmatic bronchitis. I have a LOT of mucus that has been greatly DECREASED by: 1) drinking lots of water and herbal teas (up to 3-4 quarts per day), 2) Eliminating ALL dairy products (boy, do I miss that cheese, but, it's worth it) 3) Taking 10 drops of SSKI (potassium iodide) twice a day to help thin out the mucous 4) Eating garlic, onions, chilis, & hot chicken soup (epecially recommended by my pulomologist to help stimulate & open up the air passage ways. After eating some of these spicy foods, I notice that I do tend to cough more up more of the mucous. I hope that this is helpful....aloha, karen >biglou5685@... writes: > > > > The mucous all goes down my throat now. > > I will definitely check on the breathing techniques. Guest guest
, Saw my pulmonologist today and he gave me Allegra D and Nasacort to help cut down on the mucous. Do you use any medications for the Asthma? I use Flovent and Combivent, but when it is bad I give myself treatments with a Nebulizer. Thanks for the info. Guest guest
Hi ! Isn't it funny that your pumonologist (who is my pulmonologist--at least your firmer one is) thinks I have new onset " asthma " too. I have afunny feeling that this is not asthmas though, it's RP . For one thing the amount of trouble I have breathing and walking is out of proportion to the findings on the PFTs. For another it just doesn't feel like the asthma my pts used to describe to me. For another, I've been on high dose pred for I think 8 weeks and I stilll can't breathe right. ASthmas's not like that usuallythough there's always an exception. One of the reasons I'm going up the see docs. Have apulmonary consult pending at Mayo --- wanna come with me? Guest guest
Carolyn, I think the breathing problems are RP. related. I was dx. with Bronchitis, then it was changed to Asthma, and my PCP finaly decided he did not know what was causing my breathing problems. With all the Pred. were on would that not control an Asthma problem?
