Guest guest
Hi everyone, Well I had my first fill last Friday, (3 weeks after the opp) and I had the first solid food meal last night. I'm still hungry!!! She put 1 ml in when I told her I had been quite hungry on purees. She said I might have thin stomach walls (!?). Has anyone else been this hungry after eating? Is there something wrong with me? I feel more obsessed with food now than ever before. I have more than the half a cup (sometimes almost a whole cup), so then I feel like I'm eating too much again. Also nothing so far has made me vomit and i am yet to feel full. I wonder if the band will actually work with me. Dr Fielding won't be back in Cairns untill Oct. and I'm thinking I might have to go down for a really big fill. Help, Gabby _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
Guest guest
Gabby, There is probably 100 answers for you but as I am not an expert I would certainly not try to say I know the answer except to say that at times when we have our Bands put in our brain doesn't get one also, so it has trouble catching up with what is happening inside our 'gut'! Remember you had an op on your tummy not your brain! For almost, & if not, all of us our obesity & bad eating habits have been with us ALL our lives & after the band the 'habit' can still remain. This will pass, that I can promise you. I had the same feelings after my first fill (1998) & had the same thoughts as you.... well!!!!!! 3 years down the track of the biggest battle of my life (I do not tolerate fluid!) & speaking to many many people with the band I have discovered that EVERYONE of us has a different story to tell! I would suggest you ring Trudy (I am presuming also that you have the same dietician as Brisbane patients of 's!) & have a chat to her, she is terribly nice about this kind of thing & will prove very helpful & supportive. Thin stomach walls!!! hmmmm!!! that's an interesting statement! Would love to know more about that! Please don't be upset you HAVEN't had to vomit yet! lol! lol! Trust me it is not the most pleasant way to spend your life (or 3 years of it like I have!) My daughter was also 'done' 3 years ago & had her first vomit about 3 months ago from a little piece of chicken, She NEVER vomits other than that one time. You certainly may need another fill sooner than October, but I would be making a phone call to ' rooms first to confirm this. Don't be too hard on yourself or your new 'friend' at this early stage as it will all eventually come together one way or the other & most importantly, don't think that the 'band' is not going to work for you! IT DOES WORK but sometimes we have to make a few different adjustments than a lot of other people we may talk to. Always remember that not one of us is exactly the same although we are all after the same results in the end. I'm sorry this hasn't given you the answers you need but I hope I may have helped you in getting some sleep tonight instead of laying there worrying about it all. Get on that phone tomorrow morning, make a couple of calls... it will make a difference. If you ever do come down this way (Brissy/Sunshine Coast) don't forget to let us know as we have the absolute BEST Support Meetings & always love 'bandsters' from somewhere else visit us. Guest guest
Sue Just thought I'd check to see how you're going and if you've been able to keep anything down this week. Did you go to see Doug and get some fluid out? Anyway, have a great time with your daughter in Perth and I'll see you at the next meeting. Cheers
Guest guest
, Thanks for the note. Not much going down still!! So not much can come up!! lol lol. No, I didn't get to see Doug as I have had such a busy week, but I have an appointment with Dr.Tony Kierath in Perth on Wednesday morning at 9.30am so shall see how I am by then as he has agreed to take some out for me. I would love not to get any out AGAIN & even managed to eat a whole ONE prawn off my partners plate out at dinner last night, AND it's still there (well!!!) So I shall see how I am travellling by Wednesday. Worst part is I can't get to eat all that plane food tomorrow! I am one of the rare few who enjoy plane food..(that'd be right huh?) Take care. I shall be online whilst away as my Laptop is travelling with me, so shall be keeping an eye on everyone when I can!! Guest guest
Maree, Over the 3 years since having my band I have discovered that I am basically non acceptant of fluid in my band, but I keep batling along as I believe 100% in the ability of this wonderful little thing inside me. I am also not a good " Role Model " when it comes to being a good girl with my food intake or exercise, but then as I also am an advocate of saying to people, do as I say not as I do!!! Meat of any sort is a no no for me, even seafood & this is especially when I have fluid in my band. I am asking Dr.Kierath here in Perth to take out 1ml on Wednesday if he will, leaving 1ml in there. Over 3 years I have had the fluid out so many times it is just like taking a walk in the park to me & I am very happy with that, as I am about having it put back in very very slowly until I get to where I am now. My attitude is probably a little too 'blase for most 'bandsters' but then, that is the nature if this old beast...love me or hate me huh? lollol Best Wishes Sue on the Sunshine Coast in Perth (& still cold) --- mgm19220@...> wrote: > Hi Suzee, > Just read your email to - if it's any > consolation I was operated > over two years ago and still cannot digest prawns or > oysters. > They sit there forever.
