Hi ! Although I'm probably not one to give advice about helmets since my son didn't wear one, I do want to say that if you are happy with the shape, then that's good enough. It seems like you got great correction with the helmet. Healthy sleep for your little one is important, too.Congrats on the correction!Katy and baby Max, 9 mo, brachy Enough of the

helmet!!??

Hi, our 8 month old, Sophie, has been wearing her band since mid

February and although she is fine with it during the day nights are a

bit of a pain. We are in with her around 5 times a night and although

we usually just have to put the paci back in it is really getting to

us. She had a double ear infection last week with a fever so we took

the helmet off of her for a couple nights and she actually slept

better...with a double ear infection!!

According to her orthotist and the measurements she has gone from .16

to .03. This a 77% correction. Our orthotist wants to get down to .02

but we have just had enough. We are seeing our orthotist tomorrow so we

may be there but my question is would you stop putting your child in

the helmet with these results? Are we bad parents for even thinking

about this??!!

Ultimately you need to make sure that you are going to be happy with the head shape if it were to not change anymore. At 8 months old your babies head is going to grow alot and very quickly over the next few months.

Hi lisa,

not sure about the numbers since they vary a little from ortho to

ortho. however i think you went from 16 mm to 3mm (?) which sounds

good enough to stop to me. however take a good look at her head since

the numbers don't always tell the whole story. my daughter did great

in her band, but we haven't had any post band rounding (in 6 mo time)

so I wouldn't count on it. but if you're okay the way she looks now,

then it sounds like it might be time to graduate her.

Sorry about the double ear infection. If you are heppy with the results I say graduate. But if you still were hoping for a bit more keep going. If she still has some room in the band she could hit a growth spurt soon. You just dont want to look back later and wonder what if we would have kept it on a bit longer. No you are not bad parents for thinking that. you have to do what you feel is best for your family. Please let us know how the appointment goes.
