Guest guest
Also, if you haven't taken any measurements, how are your clothes? Are they getting looser? Unfortunately I have never taken measurements....wish I would have maybe it would inspire me! I will take measurement snow though so I don't feel so frustrated if I ever do start losing again! Thanks.
Guest guest
Later, am headed out right now, I will post what my leader said about plateaus in my meeting yesterday (I stayed the same BTW for two weeks now). She had some good information about dealing with and overcoming a plateau. Sticking with the program through a plateau is also something to be proud of as well. Giving up would have been easy, you've decided to stick it out! Good job! Thanks! I look forward to that explantion!
Guest guest
You may be losing inches and the pounds aren't showing up on the scale because of the muscle you've gained. If you've taken measurements, compare to see if you're indeed smaller. Also, if you haven't taken any measurements, how are your clothes? Are they getting looser? Sometimes the scale doesn't show the progress we hope it will. Also, take your measurements now in case you hit another plateau so you can still see your progress! Remember, even tho' a slow loss is frustrating now, if you lose it slowly, you have a much smaller chance of putting it back on in the future. Good luck and hopefully your body will cooperate soon! > I am beyond frustrated.....and don't mean to whine but..............I am > going on 4 weeks without a weightloss! I will take measurement snow though so I don't feel so > frustrated if I ever do start losing again! Thanks. I have lost over 20 inches since I started the program. Sometimes I don't see a loss on the scales but I can tell that my clothes are looser so I am smaller. I know that if you gain muscle, it may take a while for things to balance out. You will be heavier because of the muscle but in the long run, the muscle will boost your metablolism (takes more energy to maintain muscle than fat), you will see the fat begin to disappear again. I know there's a trade off time initially. Don't give up and don't live by the scale. Also, weighing daily can be discouraging. I know it's hard, but try to only weigh once a week! Remember just because you don't have any measurements for comparison, guage your losses by your clothes. Also, look on the bright side, you didn't gain during these four weeks. Your body didn't bounce back to a higher weight and that is something important too! Guest guest
Hi Kim, A lady in my group was just talking about a similar thing last week. She brought her food diaries into the leader to see if she could help and was told that she was eating alot of carbohydrates even though she was eating within her points, I think she ate alot of low-fat snacks which are generally full of carbs, after a week of watching her carbs (substituting low-fat ice creams for low-fat string cheese etc)she lost 3.5lbs. I don't know what your daily food intake consists of but maybe this will help. Also make sure you journal everything that you eat even if it is only a bite (you'd be surprised at what adds up), watch your sodium intake and try to increase your water further as exercise means that your muscles are holding onto water so you need twice as much as you would normally need. Re-evalate your portion sizes as sometimes they tend to creep up and look to see that you are not on the border of going down to the next " points range " . This is the advice that my leader gives us, hope it helps. Kat > I am beyond frustrated.....and don't mean to whine but..............I am > going on 4 weeks without a weightloss! Guest guest
Aha, the dreaded Plateau! Now you know that happens to all of us don't you? And you know your husband is right. There will come a week when you have a dramatic loss (it's been called the Whoosh Fairy coming to visit). One of the most common things that causes this is when your fat cells fill up with water as they empty out the fat. So one day the water goes and the weight does with it. I've gotta tell you I experienced a stall when I started working out. Even now, I go road biking a few days a week, and I ride like 25 to 30 miles, and usually the morning after a ride my weight will be up a little bit. The way you build muscle is by injuring it a little bit, and when it gets injured it swells a little bit, and yes, that shows as a gain on the scale. BUT you still could be losing inches. (I know that doesn't mean as much to me as it should either.) And then there is the other phenomenon ... for like every 10 pounds you lose, you are burning 100 calories less a day (that number is higher if you were and are very active). That's why the points level goes down in WW as you lose weight, but if you haven't jumped across one of those magic gaps it could be impacting you. Adding activity can make up for it in a couple of ways ... it can boost your metabolism and burn more calories. So while you might want to figure your activity points and mentally add them, don't feel that you need to eat all of them. I have also had stalls caused by hormones. I went from losing 22 pounds in one month of hot flashes into a six-week PMS complete with bloating, breast tenderness and weight gain (I'm 49). I finally went on bioidentical HRT and feel much better. Anyway, hang in there! There is only one alternative, and that is to GAIN weight! Guest guest
after my 3rd week w/out a loss i finally had a 5 pound loss. i actually cheated and lost. sometimes if u do the same routine the body gets used to it and just maintains but if u shake it up a bit it does something to the metabolism. i'm losing very slow too and believe me it gets me frustrated but i know i'm gonna eventually get there. do something different during the week, maybe even cheat alittle. i know i shouldn't be telling u to cheat( hello i know what board where on) but it might help. sheri Sheri, I would take small a small loss at this point.......I am just oh so bummed. Either no loss at all or uo a 1/2 to 1 pound. I just don't get it....I am close to 4 weeks with nothing except losing the 1/2 to 1 pound gains. I was really hoping I would lose 15 more by my son's wedding. The dress I bought zips but is a tight fitting dress anyway without it looking a little snug.......I am thinking I will take it back and start shopping again!!! This will be my third dress.......took two back that ended up too big........so I was sure this one would end up perfect........but not with a 4 week period with no loss!!!! I have stopped exercising every day and am changing to every other day. Maybe it is my imagination but I seemed to lose more and more often when I wasn't drinking all the required water.........could I be just holding all this water....do I need to cut back?? I need a loss to keep me going!!! Kim
Guest guest
Hi Kim, I don't think it could be all water gain, but some of it could be. When is your weigh-in day? Please don't give up - it will improve! You may still lose a good deal by the September wedding. Perhaps hold off on the shopping for another week or so, you're still a month away. -Elissa Re: Still stuck! after my 3rd week w/out a loss i finally had a 5 pound loss. i actually cheated and lost. sometimes if u do the same routine the body gets used to it and just maintains but if u shake it up a bit it does something to the metabolism. i'm losing very slow too and believe me it gets me frustrated but i know i'm gonna eventually get there. do something different during the week, maybe even cheat alittle. i know i shouldn't be telling u to cheat( hello i know what board where on) but it might help. sheriSheri,I would take small a small loss at this point.......I am just oh so bummed.
