Cranial Tech does just band. Yes, you do need a prescription from a

doctor, neurosurgeon, cranial plastic guy, etc. However, what we

did was we went to CT for an evaluation and I requested

measurements. Then I had CT fax over their findings to our

pediatrician. I called my ped. and told him that CT sent over their

findings from our consult and that I really wanted to band our son.

He faxed over the script that day. We did it this way because our

ped. wanted us to wait till 9 months and I wanted to do it after his

6 month appt. Some insurance companies require it to be someone

other than the pediatrician but for the most part I think the ped.

can write. Another thing you can do, is call your ped. prior to

going to CT and tell him that you would really like to band and to

please send CT a prescription to get the band. I would think if

your ped. is telling you to wait that you should get the

measurements first (like we did) and have CT send them to your ped.

Hope that helps!

PS: Typically, you will have to appeal your insurance company but

there are tons of helpful appeals in the links section or if you

email me I can send you a copy of our succesful appeal to UHC.
