Something like 8 Grand, but it was worth every cent. I don't believe second bandsters are charged for anything ... apart for the room, maybe ... sort of like a lifetime warranty, I guess. I don't know how that works or what the limits are ... Guest guest Posted July 1, 2001 Report Share Posted July 1, 2001 Hi all, time (and my workload) does not permit me to reply to messages these days, however I thought I would put in my 2 cents worth re 2nd bands. Cost - the only cost I had with the 2nd band was $150 for the hospital stay. All other expenses were covered. I have had no success with the 2nd band. It seems to fight me every step of the way. However, it has been instrumental in helping me keep off the 36 kgs I lost with the first band. I am now on Duramine to help me kick start the loss, something I did not think I would have to ever do again. I tried Xenical but the only thing that got lighter was my wallet. I am of the opinion that you get one really shot at it with the first band. Knowing this though I would do it all over again. Gail might like to chime in here, she is on her 2nd band and is still doing extremely well. I think that if you need to make a choice as to whether you go it again, weigh everything up and then decide. For me it was still the right decision. Take care. Esther. They are quite expensive at $130.00 per month. I had a feeling these would not work as I eat a fairly low fat diet anyway. Duramine is an appetite suppressant and one of quite a few on the market (price $60.00 per month). The disappointing part is that I have used all of these things in the past and thought that once I had the band I would never have to go down that road again. Esther. I like you have a relatively low fat diet. My husband has diseased liver (long story so won't go into it) and consequently no fatty food is consumed and certainly no added fat. Needless to say my husband is a beanpole but then he also eats alot less than me. Eating to him is something he has to do to keep himself alive and not something he particularly enjoys. My elder daughter is the same. Eats fruit and yoghurt for breakfast and only healthy portions the rest of the time and you CANNOT make her eat more. My younger daughter, on the other hand, eats huge amounts of food, wouldn't think twice about coming home from school and consumign 1/2 a loaf of bread and then fronting for dinner 2 hours latter. Why are we so cruelly different? My obsession with food and hence extra kilos have only been a relatively recent thing, Certainly was never an overweight adolescent and only started to gain weight and eat disproportionately to activity in my 40s. It comes in small capsule form and I have never experienced any kind of taste with them. With some people (including me) it will upset your sleeping habits but this is usually something you get used to. Unfortunately I have had a weight problem for most of my life, although I look back at photos and don't think I looked at all bad. My daughter also has a weight problem but it does not worry her in the slightest. She is very tall, oozes self confidence and does not let her weight affect her at all. I wish I could be more like her. People often comment to me that "she is an attractive girl - but if only she could lose some weight". You can imagine the response they get from me. Society needs to realise that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and size, colour or creed has nothing to do with it. I will get off my soap box now and return to work. Apart from that, we can all say how content/happy, whatever, we are the way we are and that society has no right to condem us, which it certainly doesn't, but in the end our joints, lingaments, tendons and all those wonderful internal organs like our heart, were never intended to function with the extra strain that excess weight puts on them and for our own sakes, well, at least in my case, the extra weight has to be shed.
