Guest guest
Hi All, My name is Robyn, and I guess I am what is known as a lurker, but I do have a question if anyone could please give me some information. I was banded on the 22nd March this year, initially lost 6.5kg in the fluid and mushy stage, had a fill of 1ml after about 4-5 weeks, this worked well for the first couple of weeks, i had a fair bit of restriction, couldnt eat fast, had to chew really well, couldnt eat certain foods, like steak, sausages, lamb etc, and it even was painful going down (which i thought was the band doing its job)...and lost a few more kilos, so i was down 10 kg at that stage. I then started to notice that i didnt have the same restriction, i could start eating meat again, and didnt have a full feeling any longer, so back to the doctor I went and had another 1ml put in last week after i had gained a kilo and a half, well this had no effect on me whatsoever, and on monday this week had another 2ml...so a total of 4mls now. I was on fluid for 24 hours and have had food this yesterday afternoon and this morning , and while i have been chewing my food really well, do not seem to feel the same as i did after my first fill....it feels too easy (if that makes sense) I made sure i didnt overeat, but still dont seem to have a really full feeling, and even now feel hungry (but that might be because of the 24hrs of fluid, and my body adjusting). I guess the question is, should i be feeling really full, like if i was to have another bite, i would want to throw up, i know it is different for each person, but am concerned that there could be something wrong with the band. One more question, is 4ml a lot to have in a band, what would be the most some of you have had. Thanks for listening, bestwishes, regards, Robyn
Guest guest
Robyn, When you have a fill, does your Dr withdraw the fluid that is in your band to check that it is still there? Band placement may also have a lot to do with how much fluid you need to get to the restricted stage. I have 4.5mls and insufficent restriction which I think is because my band is placed fairly high towards the oesophagus. From 4mls on even a tiny amount more may cause a dramatic difference (or so I have been told). (Tas) >>concerned that there could be something wrong with the band.
