Guest guest
Well I figured it was time to introduce myself. My name is Trish and I have been reading all your posts for awhile now. I had an Open RNY on December 13, 2002 at MUSC in ton, South Carolina by Dr T. Karl Byrne. I was 475 lbs and 5'8 " with a BMI of 72. I am now 390 lbs. I had been able to carry my weight with only back pain. My BP and blood sugar has always been very low. I decided on the surgery because doctors told me it was either surgery or being bed ridden or even death. I have tried all the diets out there with no success. My diet was never a problem but it always seemed like no matter what I ate or didn't eat I would gain weight. I have been doing pretty well. I had been slowed down by a wound infection in my incision, but it has finally healed over this past week. I am trying to transition to regular food but am finding it very difficult. It seems as though chicken, tuna, etc make me nauseous. I have even begun taking Isopure No Carb protein shakes. They are ok but hard on my stomach. How much protein should we be getting in? I am averaging about 25 to 30 grams a day (without the shakes). Well I just wanted to introduce myself and to tell you all that I really enjoy reading all your posts, they have been very informational. Well please feel free to email me at anytime and hope you all have a nice day..........Trish
Guest guest
Trish! Great loss!! Maybe beef up your water intake and try two protein drinks a day will help with energy! The food will come, slowly, give it a while. Cheers! Sharon in D.C. First Posting Well I figured it was time to introduce myself. Guest guest
Hi Trish - Welcome to the group. You are doing great so far. As for protein, I would go with 2-3 shakes a day. You cannot count on the protein in food as it isn't absorbed. Order some samples from www.vitalady.com and find one or two you can tolerate. Perhaps the Isopure isn't the right one for you. I found a lot of them to be too sweet, but now I drink the Pro Complex chocolate and it is just right. Take care. Guest guest
Hi Trish and welcome to the group I don't know if this has been answered but at minimum protein should be 60-90 grams a day .
