I am an orthotist that uses the Michigan cranial helmet.

I am not sure about pressure guidelines for the " band " but here are

the pressure guidelines I give all my patients' parents.

Good pressure vs. Bad pressure

Good is pink pressure larger than a quarter. * It should disappear

within 60 min. * Often seen on the prominent or high spots of your

child's head. * If it lasts longer than 6o min. or is present on the

flattened areas of your child's head call your orthotist for

adjustment.

Bad is angry red, direct, pointed pressure smaller than a quarter. *

Should disappear within 30 min. If it doesn't call your orthotist for

adjustment.

Every child responds differently to pressure, my fair skin babies can

really pink up. You know your child best use your best judgement. I

don't believe a bruised area is acceptable.
