Guest guest
> I will ask about the Candida when I go for a physical, or maybe I will > just call my OB/GYN. Your OB/GYN might not necessarily know that you have it. There are signs OTHER than a vaginal yeast infection, and you don't necessarily have to get them to have candida. The best way to find out for sure if you have it is to have your blood checked. You could certainly talk with your doc. about that when you get your physical. > BTW, the doc I go to has been on Atkins for I think 4 or 5 years now. I > can't think of a better advocate for me than that. He hasn't seen me in > a while so I am sure he will be please with my weight loss. Awesome! I'd love to find one of those. You're a lucky lady, Candace. So many people have docs that HATE the idea of Atkins and are SO closed-minded. *sigh* -- in Indy (262.5)253.5/222.5/<215*/150 3/26/01 * Thanksgiving mini goal

It's not like I eat multitudes of them, but > just one a day as a dessert. Actually, I THINK the Jell-O is specifically mentioned in the book as being OK. (My copies lent out right now, so I can't check the induction chapter.) As for the other stuff, here's the deal. By the time you've eaten the veggies that you HAVE to eat, you have just a few carbs left for other things like eggs, dressing, cheese, a bit of cream, etc. In other words, if you eat what you're supposed to eat, you won't really have extra carbs to spend on other stuff. But since the cheesecake contains stuff you can have on induction, and so long as it's eaten in moderation AFTER you've gotten all your veggies for the day, it's prolly OK. JMO, of course. -- in Indy (262.5)253.5/222.5/<215*/150 3/26/01 * Thanksgiving mini goal

Marlena, I'm with you. When I started low carbing I remember an expression. " K.I.S.S. " It stood for, Keep It Simple Sister. Now, there are recipes being posted all the time, that are definitely not induction. A lot of these recipes come down second or third hand from other sources as well. I often think the carb count is taken at face value, and hasn't been researched. Also the person posting has not even made this recipe. Personally, and I'm sorry if I'm stepping on any toes here, I have a problem with that. I think it gives carte blanche to people who are beginning. Prhaps there should be a proviso at the beginning of the recipe stating 1. This is induction/ not induction. 2. I have/ have not actually made this. 3. I have/ have not confirmed the carb count. Many people, who still have trouble coming to terms with what is a carb, think because the product / recipe is mentioned here they are allowed to have it. Yesterday I was helping my son move house. At one stage DH and DS called me and said bring snacks, we have nothing to eat - it's all in boxes. DH eats garbage, DS thinks low fat ( dried fruit etc )and there's lil ol me. So I bought a variety of thing. Low fat muffins, sultanas, dried apricots, almonds, and a low carb high protein choc bar. I thought that since we really needed the energy, at least DS and I would have something different. He was pleased that I had thought of it. He eagerly took the first bite and said - it's not too bad; about 10 seconds later - it now tastes disgusting. I tried it and had to agree. Threw it out, it was so bad. Had a couple of slices of cheese instead. Tania Australia >
