Guest guest
My daughter also had problems with the Starband. It left some dark red marks that took many hours to fade. There was no improvement after two days at the orthotist's office for adjustments. We decided to go to Cranialtech and switched to the Docband. There is all the difference in the world. My daughter has been in it for three weeks with no red marks. The Docband is much lighter and more open than the Starband. Since my daughter changed to the Docband, she had to be recasted. The casting process at Cranialtech is also much more meticulous, which I believe ensures a better fit. Even though we now have to drive 90 minutes instead of 15 minutes for our appointments, it is definitely worth the trip. Good Luck! He got it and he got sick for two weeks so we had to leave it off. This week we have been back and forth to the doctor shaving it were it leaves really bad red marks. Now it moves off is forhead. I called and they said we have to re-cast him. Now we have to start all over. I am getting tired of all this. He is 4.5 months old. I have some questions. Has anyone else been through this? Will his face be normal agian? Had anyone had doubts in the helmet? Helping your favorite cause is as easy as instant messaging. You IM, we give. Learn more. Guest guest
1st off let me say your son is so young - you still have a lot of correction time - which is great! Next - there have been instances where bands did not fit right - for many reasons. It is too bad your son got sick and couldn't wear the band - sounds like his head grew and changed alot in that time. I think it's wonderful that you are able to re-cast and get a new band. I can understand your frustration in all the time and energy spent only to start over - but how wonderful that you get to start over while he is still young! There are some parents that didn't start over, got to the end and realized the head was worse off than when the band was started!
