Guest guest
Hi : I'm new to this group also; just diagnosed with atypical medullary two weeks ago (I'm 46 years old). So far have had lumpectomy and SNB, which, happily, was negative. The tumor was grade 3 and 3 cm, but not yet staged as don't have everything else back yet. My Dad also has been fighting prostate cancer. He's had the surgery, radiation, and now on hormone therapy as his PSA just won't stay down. I haven't heard about the gene link between breast and prostate, but plan now on doing some research into that. I'm staying optomistic about both myself and my Dad, but it's sure hard to not second-guess every decision....am I using the right doctor? ... should I have had a masectomy? ...was the sentinel node biopsy accurate? I don't know how folks made it without the Internet, but, on the other hand, so much stuff is available it's hard to know when to stop. So how are you feeling at this point in the process? Are you still feeling somewhat worn down, or are you getting close to be back to normal? I'm worried about what to expect a year from now...was kind of hoping that this would mostly be behind me. Am also very lucky to have a strong supportive partner. I can't imagine what it would be like to have to go thru this without her...she's gone to all the doctor appointments, biopsies, taken notes, done research, and all the while picking up all the extra household stuff that I'm too sore to help with. Hope you're well and happy... Ruth > > Hello Everyone.... > My name is . I was dia. w/ IDC in 3/2005 at the age of 44. It was Stage 3 and very aggresive. I also had extensive tissue invasion around the nerves and lymphatic tissue, but THANK GOD I was SNB negative. I had lumpectomy and did chemo and radiation. > Since then its been a roller coaster ride with mamos, bone scans, and pet scans. > My Dad has had Prostate Cancer and Bladder Cancer. They removed his bladder last Nov. I found out that the same gene that is found in prostate cancer is the same gene in breast cancer...has anyone else heard this? > For the most part Im doing well. I would like to return to my life before BC, but in some ways it has made me a stronger person. > I have been on this site for about a week and have ready everything that has posted and am amazed at the amout of caring and thoughtfullness that I have seen here between people that dont know. > I aways say my husband HAD BC with me...he was so supportive too me and with me. I say he deserves a metal for his ordel with me during cancer but I still have the chest to pin the metal on...hehehe > May God bless each and everyone of you. > > > > --------------------------------- > Get your email and see which of your friends are online - Right on the new Yahoo.com > >
