Guest guest
Does anyone on this board attend the Vacaville support group meeting on Wednesday nights? I was thinking I might be able to swing making it to that one tomorrow since my mother-in-law will be at home with me taking care of the kids for the rest of the week. Guest guest
Colleen, isn't that totally cool. Clothes being too big. The stuff I bought three weeks ago is too big. My skirts now turn all the way around when I walk. Its totally cool and I can't wait to see you. I finally got down to 174 with 44 more pounds to go to reach my goal of 130. Well I would like to be at 122 which will put me 100 pounds post surgery 127.5 total. See you tonight. Guest guest
Tina, I am black, 5' 2 " and pleased to say 174 pounds (yeah!!). I will be there tonight and will have on a black skirt and a orange blouse with flowers on it (sort of remind you of Hawaii) and black hills. Can't wait to see you. Colleen and Tawny are so beautiful and you are going to just love them when you meet them. With hopes of seeing you tonight... Guest guest
Okay...I'll venture out for my 1st big outing (only 1 week plus 1 day out from surgery) and come tonight. It is also stepping way outside my comfort zone...don't really like big groups of people...kind of a shy person but I'll do it so I'll see you guys all tonight at 6:00! Guest guest
Okay. I'll be very casually dressed. Everything kind of pushes on one of my incisions so my attire since I've been home is shorts and a t-shirt with sandals. I have shoulder length curly-ish hair that will be put back in a headband (and I need a dye job BAD!). I'm tall too. 5'11-1/2 to be precise! See ya there! Guest guest
Not much pain at all. I'm a little sore when I sit for too long or if my bra is poking on one of my incisions. I'm not taking any type of pain meds though. Not even tylenol. Food is going fine. I'm just sick of the choices but a week will pass quickly and then I'll get to have egg! Woo-hoo! The meeting tonight was good. It was nice to meet Pam & Colleen & put a face to Tawny (who doesn't post much anymore). They are both beautiful warm nice people! Gosh Rose. I hope your pain subsides soon and that things start improving quickly. Hang tough and my prayers and thoughts are with you always. Guest guest
Thanks Tina, you are beautiful to. You looked great and you were so smart about getting in your liquids (2 points for you). I am glad you have decided to continue coming. I really wish we could have a meeting once a week. Maybe I will ask her about that at the next meeting. I just hate to think that I have to travel all around the globe to have a weekly meeting. I think we need it...well, I need it. I walk away feeling rejuvinated everytime. Take care of yourself and remember small steps and the changes will come. Be encouraged. Pam Marsh --- Tina ma2two@...> wrote: > Not much pain at all. Guest guest
Thank you! Yes, I don't go anywhere without some sort of liquid. Beth said the Diet Snapple was completely fine. Plain water is just...not good. I have a hard time drinking it so I have to find flavored varieties of drinks that count as water. More than once a month would be good for me too. It was a good meeting and I can't believe Laverne had her surgery 20 years ago. It was a great group of people and I will definitely make it a monthly thing. It's about a 45 minute drive for me but well worth it. I loved your blouse, by the way. Very good color on you! I can't wait to get to wear " pretty " things again. All in good time! Guest guest
Colleen, you looked awesome yesterday. You, Tawny, Cindy and yes, Tina. You all looked beautiful and I am not just saying that. You all have that glow and you look so darn happy. I am feeling more secure with myself and I know that you all are and that is beautiful. Even though Tawny is only 5 mo, she seems like she is further out. I am so glad we had that 20 year post patient their. We get to see in the future...well sort of. We know that it can be done. You can go on in life and be successful as this lady is. I hope that maybe I will be a mentor as Tawny mentioned some day. To go and speak at some of the meetings. If only to show that this thing can be done. Well dear, keep on keeping on because you got it going on. Guest guest
Yes, the Diet Snapple is good to drink and yes Laverne look great and inspires me. Now tell me this...aren't you glad you are on the losing side now. I mean when its all said and done (the 10%, the surgery itself)...its all worth it and then some. I mean it may be too early for you to make that decision but I know that you will think that in a couple of weeks when you are on more variety of food. Please be advised that stage three last until you are 12 weeks out and not the 6 so I got very tired on that phase as well. I don't think you will even care honey because it is better than just the cream of wheat, cream of chicken, etc. Thanks for the compliment on the blouse and everything. You will be there wearing the " pretty " clothes as you call it. Just wait and see. I am so proud of you. Pam Marsh --- Tina ma2two@...> wrote: > Thank you! Guest guest
I'm so glad I'm on the losing side now! Even just eating pudding and cream of chicken soup, I'm a happy camper. I'm looking forward to a little more variety but I feel blessed that I was able to have this surgery. It was a frustrating process at times (with Richmond being so strict), but I think it made me all the more prepared. When I walked in for surgery last Tuesday morning, I was ready and calm. I didn't have a nervous bone in my body and the team could tell it. They said attitude is half the battle. I was ready! I asked about them changing the Stage III lasting until 12 weeks instead of 6 and they said that most patients just have better luck. I'm okay with that. At least I'll have a bigger variety than 2 things! I wouldn't mind being a mentor someday either. I think it is important to stay connected to support groups even as you get further post-op (like my sister is 3 years out now). I think it's just good to hear from everyone and hear about their experiences. More than once a month meeting would be GREAT! We should see if there is some interest in that. Maybe twice a month? Guest guest
Hi Tina, My husband and I go to Sam's Club and get propel, fruit2o, diet snapple, gatorade and bottled water about once a month. We spend about $80 on them but found that our 17 year old son drinks far less soda because of it. We have a fridge on the patio just for liquids and keep it stocked all the time. We don't drink the gatorade but the boy does. He is on the track and wrestling team so hyration is very important for him, in fact he works at Hurricaine Harbor (six flags water park) and came home DE-hydrated weekend before last, two days at urgent care, and they couldn't get an I.V. in him the needles just broke right through the vein....VERY VERY scary! The doctor called on the third day just to check and make sure he was getting better, he was told to drink at least 8 bottles of gatorade a day until he was better. Anyway, fruit2o is good stuff and that was the point of this note to you! just rambling on.... SueTina wrote: Thank you! Yes, I don't go anywhere without some sort of liquid. Beth said the Diet Snapple was completely fine. Plain water is just...not good. I have a hard time drinking it so I have to find flavored varieties of drinks that count as water.More than once a month would be good for me too. It was a good meeting and I can't believe Laverne had her surgery 20 years ago. It was a great group of people and I will definitely make it a monthly thing. It's about a 45 minute drive for me but well worth it. I loved your blouse, by the way. Very good color on you! I can't wait to get to wear "pretty" things again. All in good time!Tina> > > > > Does anyone on this board attend the Vacaville> > > > > support group meeting > > > > > on Wednesday nights? Guest guest
Hi Pam Well we all do have something to glow about ! I almost wore a new pink yellow and orange blouse Pam ! It was nice to see some people that are farther out, and i hope when they do the new meetings for one year and out post op patients that they dont not come to the one year and under group, because it is invaluable what we learn and grasp from the patients that are farther out....................... Colleen ps Pam if you want to go for a walk sometime after dinner i am up for that, especially now that is summer and there is no homework issuse at my house. call anytime, Kurtis answers the phone most of the time but he is good about telling me who is calling LOLPamela A Marsh wrote: Colleen, you looked awesome yesterday. I'm a little sore when I sit for too long or if my bra is poking on one of my incisions. I'm not taking any type of pain meds though. Not even tylenol. Food is going fine. I'm just sick of the choices but a week will pass quickly and then I'll get to have egg! Woo-hoo!The meeting tonight was good. It was nice to meet Pam & Colleen & put a face to Tawny (who doesn't post much anymore). They are both beautiful warm nice people!Gosh Rose. I hope your pain subsides soon and that things start improving quickly. Guest guest
Tawny looks fabulous and she is so beautiful and just so very pleasant to be around. She is also very busy but she did tell me that she will be joining and posting again soon. She is just out and about and is doing a wonderful job. As far as her weight, I can tell you that she has a lost but as for how much, not sure and I am probably sure that when she post, it will be a status as well. Guest guest
I love propel and the diet snapple cranberry raspberry. I'm not sure I've tried the fruit-2o. I'll have to get some.
