Multiple bands are only a small percentage of the babies treated at CT -- depends on the age and growth of the child, and how severe the head is mishapened. DOCbands are made differently than the Hanger band -- but both work realitively the same. Hanger does other orthotics, and so it depends on your ortho on how experienced they are with head molding devices (it really makes me cringe when someone says they have 3-4 weeks (or more) between visits -- I just think an eye should be kept on it, no matter how passive the device ). Our son had a DOCband for a long, narrow headshape (scaphocephalic), and though we probably could have had another band after our 16 weeks, they did not push this at all. They said he was almost in the "normal" scaphocephalic range for length (but he was still a bit long). We traveled from Cincinnati to Chicago every 2 weeks. I think if they had been closer, I might

have considered asking about it, because he only gained a couple of pounds (from 6 and 1/2 to almost 12 months of age (he was big at birth and "plataued"), and so didn't have much of a growth spurt, but for us, all of our "trouble" areas were corrected (he gained a slope (his head jutted straight back pre-band), and gained width in his forehead, and the length did recede a bit. He's eight now, and doing fine, and I think we made the right decision.hope this helps.mom to Quinn, born 11/99, DOCgrad 11/00>-- Cranial Tech vs. Hanger P & O> > > My 4 month old daughter, Cate, has been diagnosed with Plagio and we > are trying to learn all we can about the condition and treatment. I also feel that CT doesn't push to put your child in a second band...they give you the measurements after the first round of treatment and it's your decision. I think that DOC band's inside is thinner than other bands. This probably makes it a little lighter and more comfortable to wear, but dosen't allow for as much growth as other bands.
