Guest guest
Thanks Beth. I don't have a lot of family to stay close to, but I do try with my mom and with my father occasionally and with my brother by phone. I have been trying to contact my nieces and nephews too. Of course, I always stay close to corky. It is feeling pretty lonely right now though and my mom is going away for another ten days on Friday so it will be even worse. I think I am getting a cold. I am staying away from too much tv but I cannot ignore the news completely. So far tonight I only watched the local news and the national news and cnn for only five minutes. Then I came in here to see who was online. I am still having trouble concentrating for very long. But I am hanging in there. And this morning my weight was down 2.5 lbs. that's called a whoosh. But I will be up tomorrow as I ate chinese for lunch and watermelon tonight for dessert. It tasted great, much better than those bars I have been eating. I may turn to fruit for evening snacks. What's the time frame Norma? a -- Re: a a, I hope today is better for you. I agree with you that everything seems different. Stay away from the stores. Guest guest
Wow, you are brave to try an aerobics class. That is my goal to try an aerobics class. It will be a long while, even though I walk for 45 minutes, I don't really work up a sweat or anything. Plus I am the MOST uncoordinated person you ever met and a leftie to boot so I can't learn squat. a -- a Good for you, a. I'll bet corky enjoyed that walk too. Just bring a plastic grocery sack to put the " baggie " in. Easier to carry and no one will know what is in it. I walked 20 minutes on treadmill this am. It is now pouring down rain so no track tonight. I am going to try an aerobics class in the morning...probably won't be able to move for a week...LOL. Guest guest
Looks like we have a lot in common. I am also uncoordinated and a leftie. I don't like to work up a sweat, but know that if I do, it usually means I am getting some benefit from it. I'll let you know how it went. Joanne > Wow, you are brave to try an aerobics class. Guest guest
tell me more about these bacon snacks beth. YOu cook the bacon and then freeze it? then what do you do with it when you take it out? Or you just keep it in the freezer and take it out and cook it? a -- Re: a Good for you a! Trust me--making egg salad is cooking. I cook in batches on the weekend to make sure I have food for the week. My emergency food is bacon. I always have a couple of packages in the freezer ready at a moments notice. I wrap each slice around a chunk of cream cheese. This combination of protein and fat saves me every time. These get me through when I have nothing else or need time to fix something. I call them bacon snacks. Beth I agree Beth. Cooking is the key for me. If I'm not doing it, then chances are I'm heading for a cheat. RIght now I am eating egg salad that I made over the weekend, instead of walking in the house starving with nothing to eat. Guest guest
Dianne, I just tried to make an online donation. Got through all the fields including my credit card number and on the final screen it said it could not find the server. this happened to me once before when I was buying Norton online and it did take my money. Do you get notified whenever someone contributes? I won't be able to tell for a few days if it took my money or not. It wasn't a huge donation, but my dream is for AC to sponsor $500, or 25 percent, of your walk. What do you say ladies? We have our very own marathoner in our midst. a -- a Ohhhh Yippppiiii a is going for a walk. It is cold and sunny here. I hate the early darkness too a and we reset our clocks tonite.... right ? I am off to walk, trying for 4 - 6 miles and then over to be with Terri and Jan for a while. Sorry about your back. I have had a " neck thing " going on the past two weeks. :-(( My mom is doing pretty good right now...Thanks for asking. I have to call about the gym. Guest guest
Well I didn't do too well Beth. Thanks for asking. I ate potatoes and crackers and pie. But it wouldn't have been disasterous if I had contained it to just that meal. I have been eating mega carbs ever since. Guest guest
Are you eating enough protein and fat to fight those cravings? How about l-glutamine. That always helps me. I'm sorry you are having such a hard time. I cheated at my department lunch yesterday. I had two really sweet drinks. Don't tell Dianne I had her favorite. I also had some eggnog. I'm back on the wagon today. I have been eating a lot of legal treats lately. I'm addicted to those pumpkin bars that someone posted a while back. My sweet tooth has been over active. I was good at lunch today. I went with some people from work. They make homemade milk shakes at this restaurant. Mmmmmmmmmmm. I didn't get one. My company party is tomorrow. I'm not sure what to expect in terms of food. The party starts at 4pm. I plan to eat plenty of protein before I go. Beth Well I didn't do too well Beth. Thanks for asking. Guest guest
HI a...thank you for your informative posts!!!I have been learning and am still a student on how important food/exercise is to fight this bully...i see myself with boxing gloves on and the only thing in my arsenal is enough sleep, organic foods, exercise and no stress!!! Yes people should understand what chemo does to your system not just be in the dark and do what the doctors say..It is a poisen although sometimes a necessary evil to combat this disease.. but i have found that the doctors dont mention the importance of nutrition and diet!! I have gone to a nutritionist who has explained to me in detail the importance of food in this battle...and especially for those who are enduring chemo which is annhilating your immune system so you need to do your part with what you eat ie. immune boosters ( proven ones!!) I have been taking peak4 which ive researched and seems to be one of the best ones out there. Also watch out for meat girls..try to stay away from red meat or buy organic...its unreal how much your nutrition plays a part in combating bc. You have to keep your natural killers up to par these are the cells that fight off stuff in your body ie. cancer.and other problems that your body produces naturally but are weakened cuz of stress, not a proper diet, drinking alcohol to much, smoking and environmental situations...to name a few... I have never been a person to buy any gimics or slogans on stuff i always beleived they were out to make the mighty dollar!!I do believe wholeheartedly in the immune boosters and watch what you eat after extensive research and asking many a question to doctors and holistic doctors as well. A warm hug to all of you going thru this hard time in your life and prayers to all....We must help each other and stand by whatever decision has been made regarding what kind of treatment is best..may each persons choice be the right one and may God be with you all..take care ...Kassy > >
