Guest guest
I can't speak to another helmet but I definitely see the bumpiness. We were happy with CT. Guest guest
Hi, I looked at the pics. I think I would try CT for a consult base on the photos you posted. It seems it should be better than this. I bet you can still get better results with a second band. -christine sydney 21 mo starband grad. > > My son wore a helmet for four months (from six months of age > until ten months). Guest guest
Hi , I'm not sure if it is related, but my orthotist said that bumps on the back of my son's head are a good indication that the skull is ready to " pop out " to a rounder shape and it is a good time for a helmet. Good luck. >> > Hi ,> > I just took my daughter, , for her casting at Cranial Tech in Cleveland today. She will be wearing her second band and her first one was a Michigan Helemet. I've posted four pictures in Our Plagio Babies D album. As you can see from the first two pictures, he did have very good correction from the top view - from 15mm when he got his helmet down to pretty much no difference. At our last appointment at the neurosurgeon, I asked about the fact that the right side of his head was still very bumpy. I was told that the flat spot at the top was along the suture line. I was assured that the bumpiness at the bottom would smooth out once he was done with the helmet. The right side of his head was bumpy before he got the helmet, but I expected it to round out as it filled in on the right side. When his hair is dry you can't tell, it looks perfectly smooth. My son is now thirteen months old and has been out of the helmet for three months, with no improvement to the bumpiness. The third and fourth pictures that I posted show how bumpy the right side of his head is compared to the left.I know there are several people in this group who have posted about having problems with the first helmet and eventually deciding to get a second helmet when the child was around a year old. I'd really appreciate your input - I'm considering calling Cranial Technologies to see if they will take a look at him (which is not where the first helmet came from). I'd hate to make him wear another helmet, but I just feel awful everytime we bathe him and I can see how bumpy his head is. > > > > > > > __________________________________________________________> Boo! Guest guest
, I posted one picture of the right side that was taken the day that he got his first helmet. It's not exactly the same angle because he doesn't have his head tilted down, but it's the closest one that I could find. > > , > > My son had a bump on his flat side too prior to banding. Guest guest
Hi - We switched to a DOCband for my son at 12 months and I was very glad we made the switch. It wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion from CT. I don't know if the helmet can help 'bumpiness', but they should be able to give you an honest assessment. My son still has a bump over left ear which I was also told would smooth out after he was out of his helmet that never did, but like your son, it's only when his hair is wet that it is noticible, so I try not to focus on it. Good luck! Sheila, mom to , 25 months > > My son wore a helmet for four months (from six months of age > until ten months). I've posted four pictures in Our Plagio Babies D > album. Guest guest
, Okay, after seeing that picture I think the helmet made the right side of his head worse. Because it looks like he only had one bump and now he is has a few. Also, this bump in the before picture is almost identical to how my son's was before the band. But like I said, he doesn't have a bump anymore. I would definitely go into to CT and get an opinion and maybe even take the before pic with you. Good luck. > > > > , > > > > My son had a bump on his flat side too prior to banding. BUT the > > band smoothed out that bump. Guest guest
, Thanks for taking a look at the pictures. There's a CT an hour and a half from me. I called them this morning and they gave us an appointment for next Tuesday. So we'll see what they say. And I'll definitely take the before pic with me. > > > > > > , > > > > > > My son had a bump on his flat side too prior to banding. BUT > the > > > band smoothed out that bump.
