Guest guest
Like said the important thing is that your child stays on the same curve for them. My son is 95th percentile for height, weight, head circum. and we recieved GREAT correction in the band. If you like your ped., I wouldn't switch. It seems from being part of this group that a lot of doctors don't know a lot about plagio. I would think if you go for an evaluation and then have the specialists send the measurements and their findings then your ped. may write the script. You will want to call them to tell them a fax is coming and that this is something you really want. Pediatricians know a lot but they are not the head specialists. It is great that they want a head specialists to evaluate your son. I think because plagio is so new and there are a lot of doctors that truly believe it will round out on its own (which probably in some cases does) they would rather have a specialist make the decision on whether banding will truly help your child. IT is unfortunate that you are playing phone tag. Hopefully, you will get through and be able to get an appt. soon. Do you have a CT by you? They are great and I always got through to a real person everytime I called. Plus, I always got an appt. within a day of calling! I don't think they write perscriptions but they could evaluate like I had done and send it to your ped. Also, my son started at 7.5 months and recieved great correction. He is now 9.5 months old. Good luck. lisachristineashok <christineashok@...> wrote: Hi ,don't necessarily switch peds just because they don't know aboutplagio - you may have a hard time finding one that does know. isn'tthat sad! but so many of us have found our peds to be ignorant orworse wrong about plagio. i don't think it matters how big his head is now. it just matters howmuch it grows. in general you should expect to stay on the same curve,so he may still stay at the 25th percentile, but should be growing ata normal rate. my daughter has a giant head and still got a lot ofgrowth. I would try to move as quickly as you can with banding, but you stillhave time so don't drive yourself crazy. let us know how it goes with the neuro.-christinesydney 15 mo starband grad> > >> > > Hi Everyone and Happy Easter!> > > > > > Thanks to all of you for your very helpful answers to my question > > > last week about aggressive repositioning for my 6 mo (4 mo > corrected > > > age) preemie.
