Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I went to see my surgeon on Wednesday for my two week check-up. I told him how concerned I was that my incident with the rice may have caused my band to slip. He said it was highly unlikely especially with the way they've sown my band in all the way around I would have felt extreme discomfort if mine had moved. So that was good news. Don't think I'll feel completely relaxed until I get an x-ray though. AND...I LOST FIVE KILOS...YAAAAAAY. In two weeks I am pretty pleased with that because it's a quarter of what I wanted to lose altogether. And the good news just keeps rolling in because he said i can go on to very well pureed foods. I started with one weetbix well milked down and nuked just to make sure it was nice and warm and pulpy. I could eat the whole lot in a relatively short period of time (remembering I don't have any fluid in my band yet), but definitely felt more satisfied than I would have pre-op. Then last might i had a bit of curried lentils over mashed potato. It was HEAVEN. I'd say I can eat half a cup no problems. I don't feel like I'm anywhere near vomiting, but maybe that just " happens " (does it?) without any prior warning. Like Kim, I would like to know if those of you who have vomited were taken by surprise with it, or did you realise you were overeating before it happened.? Another great thing i find about the band is that you're so petrified about upsetting it that you eat everything with a teaspoon and very gingerly, instead of standing at the fridge and wolfing it down like i used to. This new slow method of eating makes me realise when I'm satisfied regardless of whether I had the band or not. Just my two cents. Steph. Guest guest
, Hi! Your doctor sewed the band all around??? That's great! It sounds like you have a very fine surgeon. Mine was " tacked " in just one place to hold it in place (and, obviously, THAT didn't work!). Anyway, sounds really good to me. It also sounds like they are learning from prior mistakes and getting it right, which is just wonderful. I'm really happy for you. If your band was sewn like he said, I don't think you have anything to worry about and you can relax. Also, as far as vomiting, with no fluid in your band, it's unlikely to happen. I can usually tell when I'm going to vomit -- It feels like something is stuck. I have never been caught by surprise -- always have a few minutes warning and often have brought up stuck material myself (which is very easy before it hits the band). But mine is a strange situation because of where my band is, however, even when it was where it was supposed to be I didn't have vomiting without warning. It sounds like you are doing just what you should be doing and I for one am very proud of you. Keep it up! Dear Steph, You get plenty of warning you are about to vomit. The pain is incredible and then you get nauseous and then you either sit in the pain until it subsides about three weeks later or else you stick your fingers down your throat. I only vomit if I eat too fast. I haven't vomited from overeating because I haven't eaten enough at one sitting. I have 36 years of habit to undo.
