Guest guest
Hi Folks: Walter Lindstrom (Obesity Law & Advocacy Center www.obesitylaw.com) here. Got back from Belgium tremendously excited about so many positive doctor presentations about the LapBand and Swedish Band.....I learned alot. I also spoke to a number of Austrailan and European surgeons who enjoyed my presentation on the International Obesity Surgery Support Group (www.iossg.org) and the role that it can have in the international community. I hope all of you will consider enrolling as members for a mere $35.00 US per year. With enough representation, we can establish " chapters " in various countries specifically dedicated to the surgery access and support issues unique to that country. That is ongoing for Canada and would like to see it everywhere. There is information and a registration form on the IOSSG website, so check it out and send it in! You are all terrific, Walter Lindstrom
Guest guest
Hi Walter, Thanks for keeping us up to date on Bruges. You know there would be some work for you here in England. Gastric banding is very new and therefore the private health insurers are trying to get away with not paying. A doctor I know has 4 or 5 patients that have been refused coverage. He suggests they go to the British Private Insurance Arbitrator, but of course they would need some guidance, as they are not familiar with the legal aspects of the whole thing. How could your organisation help them? Please let me know, I would love to help them, as I am a firm believer in The Band. In the meantime I will check out your form. cheers Barbara

I think you could assist greatly in creating a role for IOSSG in England and defining that role. Interested?
