Hello everybody,

How come everybody has been so quiet lately ?

You know that I had my third adjustment ten days ago. In fact, I

didn't have the impression that it worked more than two days. These

last days, I had to fight hard not to gain weight again. I called my

doctor and he told me that it happens sometimes, that the band doesn't

keep the liquid or " loosens " after an adjustment. So he allowed me

to have a fourth adjustment. I went to the hospital this morning ...

and since then, I can't even swallow my saliva. It's hell !!! It's

10.00 pm here now, and since this morning, I have to get up (I'm still

in bed because of my back) every 5 - 10 minutes to vomit saliva. I

wonder what kind of night I'm going to have now. If not OK tomorrow

morning, I'll have to call the doctor again. On the other hand, I'm

happy because all I want is to lose as much weight as possible before

the operation on my back.

The doctor who made the adjustment this morning says that it's possible

that my band leaks. Well, I hope not ! because otherwise they will

have to replace it. :-(

Does someone have information about band leaking ???

Cheers !

Marina

Marina,

I am sorry to hear about your band troubles. Unfortunately I can't give you

any information because I still have two weeks to go before mine is placed.

It seems like FOREVER. Can you let us know how you go...I hope you can

swallow now!

I think I have gained about 4 kilos in the two months leading up to my

operation. I am very naughtily using my band placement date to " start being

good " . And, of course, there are all those " last suppers " to be supped! We

also found out a week or so ago that our almost two year old is almost deaf.

It's taken me a lot of chocolate bikkies to cope since then. Did anyone else

find they used their impending operation as a crutch, and gain weight before

the operation??

Steph.

hi everybody!!! how is everyone? since i'm such a lousy typist, i decided to

write one e-mail to answer everyone:

dear marina,

i don't know much about band leakage but it sounds to me like you may have

some sort of blockage. your doc needs to take you very seriously because you

don't want to dehydrate.

i truly hope all goes well with your back surgery. my husband had a herniated

disc operated on 4 years ago and it was the best thing he ever did. he

litererally couldn't walk b4 the surgery and he's back to normal ever since. i

wish you the best of luck.

dear stephanie,

i too pigged out b4 my surgery. i'm sorry to say i gained 9 lbs. in the 7

months b4 i was operated on. the only thing i can say is enjoy it now but

don't feel like you can't eat after the surgery. after 2 adjustments

(currently 1.5cc in my band) i still have a fairly healthy appetite. i still

struggle with food although not nearly as much as i had in the past.

i'm sorry to hear about your child. do the docs know for sure that is the

case? how can they tell at such an early age? please know that my thought and

prayers are with you and your family.

dear marie,

please don't feel like a failure and not write because of it. as we discussed

before, i still have a hard time losing weight but it is coming off VERY

slowly. we have all had different experiences with the band and can really

support each other through this group.

i really think you should consider having dr.greenstein doing your

adjustments. i know he's got a big ego but he really is a good doctor and

seems to care for his patients.

it would be so much easier for you to travel to ny rather then mexico or

california.

as for me, not much is new. i really haven't lost anything in about a month

but i also haven't gained. i know i really need to get my butt in gear and

start eating the right foods

and excercising. i'm going to try and get another adjustment the beginning of

october.

i hope all is well with everyone!

love,

tina

Steph: I think the " last suppers " is a perfectly normal thing to go thru.

I know I did, and several others on the OSSG list. And, you must be

serious about the day of surgery being the first day of the rest of your

life. Don't fudge. Don't con yourself. Enjoy these last two weeks. Eat

what you want. Please. You have the rest of your life to behave and will

have the tool to help you do that. Eat it all now honey, that helped me to

turn away the sweets and crap after my surgery, four monthes ago on the

19th; 48 pounds lighter!!!!!

good luck, everyone take care!!

Dear Marina,

You must be going through hell. I really hope that your band is OK and

that you can adjust to the 4th adjustment! How much liquid do you have

in the band now? Please let me know, as I have the same band as you.

I will call today

Speak to you soon
