Guest guest
I had the band implanted on 27th June and the first inflation on 14th August. So far I have only lost 3.5 kilos. I have had almost constant houseguests, company and socializing since June and at least I have maintained my weight but certainly not lost like most of the folks I read about. I am quite desparate not to be one of the very few people for whom the band doesn't work. I can now settle down and pay serious attention to my weight loss. Please, if anyone has any advice or even if anyone can tell me what they normally eat in a given day it would be helpful. I am feeling quite low and out on a limb. Has anyone else had as miserable a start and still managed to be successful in the long run ?? Thanks for your help. Suzanne

Thanks for your help. Dear Suzanne, I'm not always comfortable in English, and that's why, even though I feel concerned by your problem, I haven't replied earlier to your e-mail. I think that the worse we all can do is to compare our results. It's good to have this group to learn from each other's experiences, though. I think that it's normal that our bodies react differently to the surgery. They (we) all have a different story. As obese people, we all have asked a lot to our bodies. Most of us have had big losses of weight, many times. Our bodies don't answer to diets as they used to do, and it's normal. So please, don't worry. You said that you have lost only 3.5 kilos. Isn't that a victory, already ? How much weight would you have gained during this time without the operation ? Take it as a victory, Suzanne. Don't compare to others and be confident. After my second adjustment, I had a good weight loss. And now that I really need to lose as much weigh as possible before my back operation (on October 6), I'm on a plateau. Even after the 3rd adjustement, which I had on August 31. It just doesn't work !!! You see, we can't even compare with ourselves. But I know that I do my best, and I know that one of these days, I will start to lose weight again. And you too !!! Be confident ! Lots of love, Marina, Switzerland 38 yo, 5'8 " , 3 adjs. Guest guest
dear suzanne, i must have missed your first e-mail but was able to get the gist of it from the responses. i'm not sure when you had your surgery and i don't really understand kilograms. i felt my weight loss was very slow also but now after six months i'm down 37 lbs. i know i could have lost it faster by eating the right foods and sticking to my diet but if i could have done that before i wouldn't have needed the surgery. right? i currently have 1.5cc in my band(my doc is extremely conservative) and i intend to have another adjustment in october. my point is please give enough time before you make any decisions. i can honestly say if i didn't have the surgery i'd be up at least ten lbs. by now. although my weight loss is very slow (about 4-5 lbs. a month now) it is pretty consistent. i hope everyone is well. sorry i haven't been writing but i've been really busy. xoxoxoxoxoxo, tina
Guest guest
Hey Tina, Been really busy too. Working on an intense project and on my way to Portland on Saturday. But had to stop to say how happy I am that you are doing so great. I bet you look like a million dollars. I won't be able to come on the 1st so I guess I'll do my second adjustment in November. I'm doing ok. I've lost about 8 pounds since the adjustment so plus the 15 I lost during the two surgeries, I'm down about 25 depending on the time of day. Hope to see you soon. sandra
