Guest guest
Hi Steph Hmmmmm...10 to 20% failure rate sounds like a lot. But what exactly does your doctor mean by " patient failure rate " . If he means that his patients are not sticking to the diet or are otherwise sabotaging the banding, then that is not his fault. If on the other hand the failure rate means that he had to correct a surgery he has already done, then the figures are extremely high. I suggest you ask these questions: How many of your patients had to have a second operation to correct either the placement of the band or the port? How many of your patients had band slippage? How many had infections of the port/band? How many of your patients had band leakage? My doctor gave me his statistics before the operation. I don't remember the numbers now, but his failure rate is very, very low. If you would like me to, I can look for the stats and post them. Let me know what your doctor says, OK.
