Hi Stef, thanks for your reply. I hope going back on synthroid will

resolve things for you. I see my EP on Oct. 28 and suspect that

changing anti-arrhythmics will be discussed (from Tikosyn to Tambocor).

I am wondering if I will have to be admitted to the hospital for 3 days

to make the switch. Anyone know the answer to that question? Thanks, Sandy

Hi, Sandy,

Nice to hear from you again, though sorry to hear that the Tikosyn is

not working well for you.

I was on flecainide for two years. It didn't keep me out of afib

totally, but my episodes were much shorter and milder.I did not have

to go into the hospital to start it. I don't think many docs require

that anymore, if they know your history, and know that you haven't

had a heart attack in your past, or other heart disease.

Flecainide can be pro-arrythmic, that is, cause other arrythmias to

surface. That's what happened to me, I developed aflutter, which my

local EP ablated. But I would venture to say that the vast majority

of people who take flecanide have no problem with it at all.

Wondering if you have thought about ablation. I had one in February

with Dr. Natale. After a few episodes in the first four weeks, none

since. It's wonderful to be off all the drugs and the coumadin, and

to be able to live my life again without worrying about when would

afib rear its nasty head. None of us ablatees know how long NSR-

heaven will last, but we all hope for forever! A lot of new research

and new procedures coming along also.

Try the flec and see how you do.
