Guest guest
I eat fruit alot and I do not dump as long as i don't make a hog of myself. i usually can eat 1-2 small fruits at a sitting, like a nectarine and a small apple and i am okay. if i eat 2 apples together i get slight diarrhea but that is from the apples i think. try 1 piece at a time and see how it goes...The nutritionist at your high risk docotrs office will probably be the most help to you and if she/he never has had a gastric bypass patient before then they need to hit the internet and other doctors offices and get you info, thats what they are there for. Don't be scared to speak up to them about all your concerns and make them do these things for you. When I was preggers for the twins the nutritionist had me on a special diet for diabetes, like i wasn't eating hardly anything- breakfast was llike a cup of raisin bran, 1/2 a banana and 1/2 cup milk in my cereal, lunch- a slice of cheese pizza and dinner- a small potato, piece of meat no larger that the palm of my hand and a cup of veggies. i thought no way were those babies getting enough but they were fine. I did have them 2months early because i did not keep my butt still and bed rest like they wanted me to and i lost my water so they had to induce me, they were 3 " 10 and 4 " 10 and they were good and healthy and breathing on their own. The larger baby only stayed in the hospital 5 days for jaundice and the little guy 13 days for low blood sugar, but the came home quick and i was very releived to get them home. I am sure your babies are going to be fine. they may be a bot small but they will be okay. make sure to rest as much as possible so they will stay in there as long as possible. I am praying for you all and can't wait to see pics of these miracles when they are born HUGS, ROBIN, NY TTC#4 - I DID IT, YEAH!!!!!!!!!!! OPEN RNY 10-18-02 378/254/170??? Guest guest
CONGRATS!!! Do you honestly think I can carry 4 babies with the way we absorb things <-----I think so with proper nutritional counseling each and every month and I would also see a perinatologist (which I am certain you would since have 4 plus post WLS). This is what I take as far a vitiams Iron pills (2 a day) Filenstone complete (1 a day) Folic acid (2400 a day) B12 1000 with extra follic acid (2 pills a day) Calcium citrate (2 pills a day) I think vitamin-wise, some of the other more vitamin conscious women in here can help you with that. I take mine sporadically. I would get in to see the peri asap. Yes, the babies do take what they need from the Mommy but since you have 4, they will probably take it 4 times faster! My blood levels (and B12 levels) were all normal at the beginning of the preg also, then they dropped considerably in the 5th month. I think your quads will be the same normal weight as normal babies. Most of us have had healthy-weight babies; some a little smaller then pre-WLS and some a little larger others. CONGRATS AGAIN!! Sheila I've been taking fertility drugs also! I'd settle for twins but 4???? GOD BLESS YOU!!! What were you taking if you don't mind my asking?? Guest guest
Up your folic acid... I am pregnant with ONE and take 5 MG (not micrograms!!, but MILLIGRAMS) of Folic Acid each day. With quads, you can't get too much folic acid... they need that boost for neuro health! Don't worry too much about size... that will just make things worse, okay! :~) Get that Folic Acid in, though... My doc gave me a script for it so I didn't have to take so many pills at once! :~) Hugs Sharon vittbb said: > > > > > I posted to you guys a couple of weeks ago. QUADS...WOW Congratulations! (grin) I think you should follow whatever directives the peri gives you with regard to nutrition. I would also suggest contacting your surgeon to gain additional insight into your nutritional needs based upon the procedure and amount of intestine bypassed since that varies so much amongst us RNYers in the group. I am somewhere between a promial and distal and am having no problems with my pregnancy. Some other moms are taking double the prenatal I am and I (nor the twins) have had problems with one pill per day. I also take Protien (shakes), Calcium Citrate, Iron and Vit. C. YMMV which is why a good relationship with both surgeon and peri will be so important for you. Good luck and again congratulations X4! Mom to Dejah (4) and Soon... TWINS! Maybe you could post your location and if there are other Moms in your area with another surgeon perhaps you could consult with their surgeon or nutritionist? Even consulting someone's " out-of-area " surgeon may prove fruitful if you can get your operative report and let the " alternate " surgeon know about your procedure. Mom to Dejah (4) and Soon... Guest guest
LYSINE!!! It's an amino acid that you can buy nearly anywhere. It was safe for me to take during pregnancy (I am prone to very painful nasty sores!!). I take 1,000 mg at a time 5 times a day the first day I suspect one is coming on. The next day I take just 4, then 3 and usually by the3rd day, it's gone or nearly gone! MUCH MUCH MUCH cheaper than the Famvir & Valtrex ( nearly $100. for 14 of them)I used to get prescriptions for and it's a natural substance found in our bodies! try some! you will be amazed! Guest guest
Marcy, There is an antibiotic they can give you that will clear them right up... I can't remember the name (thanks, right?? LOL), but your doc should know... and know if you can take it while pregnant. Good Luck!! Sharon Oh... if you can't take the antibiotic, Musterol is wonderful stuff! Its a cream you can find at a local drug store. It tastes nasty, burns like heck, but gets rid of them quick!! I'm not sure if you should put it in your mouth while pregnant, though... double check that, too, okay! :~) Marcy Dadian-Wallis said: > Hi Ladies, (and my favorite man here Dan too)! > > I have been sick for the past few days with a middle ear infection and > possible strep throat, basically flu like symptoms and just feel like > total CRAP! Your surgery is very close, do you feel like you ar ready for all the lifestyle changes that need to take place? Even though I am am ready I feel like I have started questioning myself on the changes that I will need to make. My husband has said the same thing to me about being scared. He said I wouldn't be normal if I wasn't and then he woud worry. Are the meeting that you attend every Thurs? Where in Fair Oaks? I would love to go to some meetings for support before my surgery. Guest guest
Pam, Thanks again for the reply... It's nice to hear peoples opinions and feelings on the surgery, and I was so glad to hear your experience on this. I'm not sure why I wrote Marsha for your name in the first reply, I am so sorry about that.... Dork sometimes I guess I want to make sure I am like you and follow the kaiser plan to a T, but for some reason have started questioning my ability to do this now that I have a date. I need to figure out why I am doing this to myself. Do you attend any meeting and where? Guest guest
HI , Dr Legha was my surgeon also. I am really glad that I got him as asurgeon. He has been with the Baroatics program for a few years now. I had my surgery in 2003. When I went in fro my Pre-op exam I got a chance to talk with him afterwards and just knowing about his medical history was comforting enough. I felt like I had put my life in the hands of a great surgeron. My surgery was realatively straighht forward and without serious complications. I did have a slight fever the day after surgery and that was taken care of right away. As for regrets the only one that I have now is that I didn't do it sooner tnat is all. Ramona-132 -- Re: Question Marsha, Thanks so much for the reply, it ws sure nice to hear from someone here. It's ok that you didn't know anything about my surgeon. I am just really scared right now and was wondering if everyone got more scared once they found the date out or as it got closer. I have been a reader of the post for so long, but decided that I need to ask questions and post to try and get support from people who have been through this process already. I need information for support meetings. Congratulations on your weight loss.....that's a great amount for 11 weeks!! I bet you are so happy with this. Do you have any regrets, or complications doing this surgery? I will keep posting and let you know as my surgery date comes closer, I will need all the prayers I can get!!!! Guest guest
Its okay about the name. I knew what you meant. What you feel is perfectly normal. I get transitioned to the final good state (stage iv) and I posted last week I think it was about being nervous. So far its been safe for me because of the food limitation (choices that is). I worry about things not settling in my tummy, that sort of thing but not enough worry to be frazzled. Its part of the process. Its the only way we learn what works for the new tummy and what doesn't. I believe I will be fine with this group here and so will you. I do attend support group meetings. I attend my meetings at Airforce Base (which is not open to the public) only because my babysitter knows the leader and told her about me. I have access because my husband is in the reserves. I have thought about attending meetings in Vacaville since I live 10 minutes from the hospital but still have not decided. Going to this meeting will interfer with my work outs at curves but we will see. Take care. Guest guest
Being newvous is perfectly normal, even if you've done as much research as you have. I'm having surgery on May 17th too, but it's the first round of reconstructive work. Having a specific date makes it more real in a way. It's really going to happen, not just " some day. Guest guest
Ramona, Good to hear from someone who had Dr. Legha as their surgeon. He didn't seem very friendly when I met him, just very business and straigt forward, I wasn't looking for a best friend, but I was hoping to have someone like all the other people have dealt with there at Kaiser S San Fran like Beth, & Dr. Stiles. I felt wonderful after leaving them. My husband said he doesn't have to be your best friend, just the best at what he does and that is all that matters, so I am just going to listent to him & not worry about the other things. How bad was the pain after the surgery? I have a low pain tolerance and that scares me even worse. Thanks for the info on Dr. L. and for your input on the surgery. It's really appreciated! > > > > > > > > Hi My name is and even though I read the posts, > > > > I have never > > > > posted. Guest guest
, Yes the meetings are every thursday they are at Hazel and Madison at the Raleys by the pharmacy. It is good to be involved in these meetings it really helps keep things in perspective and you get the answers to your questions/problems. This group is very very open about everything and I mean everything if you get my drift. The meetings start at 7pm Try and come join us you won't regret it. I am ready for this and I keep telling myself this too. I try to stay as positive as possible about it because I think it is very very improtant not to have any real second thoughts about it that I did have early on with the process. You are very welcome for my input anytime. Look forward to meeting you in person.
