Guest guest Posted January 2, 2001 Report Share Posted January 2, 2001 I have been really, really sick and I've felt really, really bad...... I've also had a sick Keely (who is better now) and a sick Rowan (who is not) he was actually in the ER on Sunday afternoon, gave us quite a scare, refusing to nurse from 10 pm Sat night, not sleeping, screaming all night. and I took turns walking the floor with him all night because he cried if we sat down. He refused to drink out of a sippy cup in the morning as well. After a 3 hour wait at the ER, which I spent walking the floors with him in the sling (boy are my shoulders and hips killing me now) he was seen and we were told no ear infection, remarkably not dehydrated, lungs are clear, it's a virus..... We have to watch out for wheezing or labored breathing, if he gets that it could be RSV. I mentioned to the dr that I was going to pump when we got home (can you imagine what my boobs were like after 18 hours? and Keely refused to help me out the little imp) and he said that if we gave Rowan the EBM in a syringe he might get the taste for it and want to nurse again. When we got home I pumped 4 oz off one side and 3 off the other then stopped and tried feeding Rowan some in a syringe, he sucked back two full syringes then said "try nursing him now" so I did and he went at it like the starving baby boy he was. What a relief, I didn't realize how worried was up until then, he hid it well at the hospital. Since then he has been nursing and sleeping well and we've gotten him to smile and laugh a few times. His nose is still very runny and he is coughing some, he also still has the fever but I think he's getting better. Needless to say we did nothing for New Year's except crawl into bed as soon as we could! Over the holidays Rowan learned to crawl!!!! Real crawling too! He has also gotten a 5th tooth, upper left side, I just noticed it last night. Michele, mom of Arran 12-27-93, Keely 12-5-97 & Rowan 3-15-00!
