Guest guest
AS a hot bald chick (my friends labelled me that) I can't get away from being a breast cancer survivor. I have chosen to not wear a wig and I work with the public so that has led to many conversations about self exams and mammograms. When someone asks what they can do for me I tell them to do their self exams every month and go for mammograms. I know that at least 20 of my customers have done just that. I wish I could be 'normal' and not have to think about the breast cancer, take a vacation from it for a while. I know what you mean about a constant reminder, I went to a womens show recently and there was so much about breast cancer there. I left in tears but they were good tears, tears about how many people care and are doing so much. This journey is HARD, very very hard but we can, by being, make a difference. Take care of yourself Kassy. You deserve all the best. > > > > > > I feel just to opposite about the pink ribbons! I am so gald > that > > > they are there!!!! Guest guest
The only thing that bothers me about the pink ribbon is how men with breast cancer must feel. They aren't even acknowleged. My friend told me how years ago, not that long ago, he wanted to do a BC walk for Komen and they wouldn't let him because he wasn't female. Guest guest
There actually are a lot of other treatments that address just this. You need to do research, the information is out there. I personally know 3 people who fought cancer without chemo or drugs and they are cancer free. You have to change your lifestyle and most people are too intimidated by the doctors, don't know enough about the options or are too lazy to change themselves. It's a very different lifestyle than most people in the western world live. People love their junk food, suger, salt, etc... ruthiema36 wrote: Breast cancer research needs to take a new direction. She said that that was a very good question, but the studies had not been done on this subject. I wonder why not. Seems it would be a less toxic way to go for a " cure " . Guest guest
So what can we do for these guys? Men are so terrified of being associated with anything feminine, it makes them feel like less of a man. We should also add some light blue ribbons, like in the hospital, light blue is for baby boys. Isn't it bad enough they have breast cancer without having breasts and then they aren't included as well. At least they don't have to think about rubber inserts or reconstruction, so that's a plus for them. K & nne Svihlik wrote: Yes I knew of someone that was refused by Komen because he was a man. Guest guest
That's really sad. I'm sorry. If they hadn't done chemo I imagine they'd have had a much better chance of surviving using the treatments. Do you know what they were? There are some questionable ones out there. The most well known to me is the Gerson Therapy. That's a 2 year program but really, it's a life long commitment. My godsister has 3 friends who all went to this place in Florida. I don't remember the name, you are put on a specific diet made for you alone. 2 of her friends adhered to it and there is no trace of any cancer in their bodies anymore, the 3rd friend went off his diet and got worse. You have to decide, I think, chemo or the other. If you do the other, do it first. Chemo messes up everything, your liver is key in the fight. You can't do chemo and then expect an immuno strengthening based program to work as well, because it simply will not. They will tell you that too. If anyone cares they can call the Gerson Institute and get as many phone numbers of people who have done the diet to fight their cancer and beat it. There are numbers for people from several continents. I have called some of them myself. it's not BS. Call them they'll rattle off as many as you want. I'm tired!!! Still not accustomed to working. I need so much sleep. Now that I can sleep I need a lot!! I didn't sleep for a year due to chemo and being thrown into early menopause. That's an upside of not being able to conceive, I know parents don't get much sleep. I am sort of having my periods but not really, I still have some hot flashes and definately night sweats. I thought with a " period " there are no more hot flashes. How can I be in menopause but sort of having periods abnormal as they are, they still resemble a menstrual cycle? Anyone? It's lonely being mid 30's with this disease because no one I talk to can relate. I know they're out there. Where are you ? Guest guest
I was one of those hot bald chicks (real attractive, hey????). Keep remembering that it's only temporary. I was bald from mid Feb (when I had my sister shave my head because I hated losing hair) until June when I decided to 'brave it' and go without a hat. I hated wigs and wore hats and scarves alot. I thought the wig looked too fake (inspite of paying ALOT of money for it) and it was too cold to wear nothing.... Chin up, it'll be better soon! This is all temporary. Pick a date in the future when you think you'll be done with treatment and count down toward it. 3 years down the road (that's where I am now), it'll only be a funny memory. --- In breastcancer2 , " r18252000 " wrote: > > AS a hot bald chick (my friends labelled me that) I can't get away > from being a breast cancer survivor.
